Can’t remember… if ever… I ever said the sentence: “It was a chilly evening on East Colfax in Denver and I suddenly found myself in a mead hall” … but here we are.

A brilliant afternoon spent in The Courtauld Gallery in London. K and I really wanted to see Manet’s ‘The Bar at the Folie-Bergere’, along with the gallery’s collection of other Impressionist paintings (including Mante’s study for ‘Le dejeuner sur l’herbe’.) Lovely.

That time of year when I start getting e-mails asking how to apply to the @brokenfrontier.bsky.social #BF6toWatch. So, once again, here's that application process in full:

(1) Make bloody good comics.

(2) Make sure I see them.

(3) Wait and see.

K and I were fortunate enough to catch Ben Edge new solo-show ‘Children of Albion’ at Fitzrovia Chapel while we were in London. Stunning work of traditional folk characters along side British modern life, hanging in a Byzantine-inspired chapel. Brilliant. Loved the mari lwyd sculpture.

"It’s his mid-eighties trilogy that is pointed to as his most musically engrossing period. Self-produced by Tom Waits, this triumvirate of albums corralled a troupe of some of the finest (and most flexible) musicians in Waits’ phone book."

The DIY attitude that led to Tom Waits’ finest album:

Back in CO after a long trip & still catching up. A great moment last week was being invited by friend & brilliant cartoonist @lucysullivan.bsky.social to a screening in London the film THING WITH FEATHERS. Benedict Cumberbatch plays a cartoonist, which Lucy did all the artwork featured in the film!

Back in Colorado after a long trip. Dealing with jet lag that has me up at 3:30am, which can be a bit nice. Trying to catch up on messages, emails, etc in the quiet darkness as everyone (even the more sensible cat) sleeps.
