I just love movies. Movies are my favorite. I talk about them on Citizen Dame, The Watch & Talk, and AwardsWatch.

So many vulnerable people were hurt, harassed and raped by these ghouls and now—I’m worried—it’s gonna become hehe haha lurid internet circus instead of a long overdue moral reckoning. I’m scared of who we all are becoming. That man has brought us ALL low.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

The Sora AI thing is proof of something very important: The technology itself is useless without the ability to use the likenesses of real, living, unpredictable people, and the art they create. And the only way to get those likenesses or that art is to summarily steal it.

Back in my day we used headphones to listen to our IPod shuffles on the F train.

Now, people sit on trains and in hospital waiting rooms scrolling through TikTok at full blast with no headphones, subjecting everyone to their shitty algorithmic addiction. It’s so rude! We used to be a society!

It's great that critic groups are condemning Disney, but are they also refusing to review or cover or help promote Disney's upcoming movies and TV shows? (Rhetorical question, I know the answer.)

Professional criticism is not the same as individual reviews. They can both be useful but criticism is a skill-based genre like any other writing. The yelpification of criticism isn’t evolution.
Life changes. Organisms/organizations need to adapt. I'm sure people go to crowdsourced info for reviews, like Goodreads, just like Yelp and others for restaurant reviews.

Okay, Sundance, we know 2026 is going to be the last year in Park City but do you really have to send the same email 6 times about it?

The other day, I was telling one of my college student employees a story about my great-grandfather, who died when I was a freshman in high school. She was shocked when I said he was born in the 1890s.

I'm no longer "born in the 70s" old. I'm now "knew someone born in the 1800s" old.

The Academy should lose the right to complain about ratings if they don’t have Tom Cruise receiving his Honorary Oscar as part of the live telecast.

Look, I absolutely agree that the person in the middle seat gets both armrests but that does not make it okay to elbow the person next to you for the whole flight.

ok I feel completely insane asking this but like

weren't we NOT blowing up rockets, like, 50 years ago. weren't we successfully sending rockets up that did not rattle apart. also weren't we like "ah yeah that was a fail" when the rocket fell apart instead of calling it a "partial success"

I don’t want to “streamline” my writing. I don’t want to “increase my output.” I don’t want to “write a novel with one click.” I want to write stuff only I can write. I want to read and write novels with soul and heart and a unique voice. Fuck AI. Long live real writers.
