When you see some bait on the timeline from an obvious grifter, I think it should be okay to just mute them. You could also say "I don't know you and I don't care what you think." and then mute them, but you don't have to burn your precious seconds educating the willfully obtuse.

This is something I struggle to get across in my own criticism of what I make.
To others it probably sounds like I'm too hard on myself, but I have a vision for my own work that I know I haven't reached yet. I like what I've made, and I'm proud of it, but I haven't nailed it yet.

I'm to the point where I want to be critical of the work. The work is eligible for deep scrutiny. I, however, know that I'm good at this. I'm good at this because I have relentlessly high standards for the work. But that's useless if I can't then step back and go, yeah, nailed it.

Still holding out hope that one day I'll get discovered for my ability to sing emo rock alone in my home. Never was one for tight pants but we could figure it out.

Metroid prime 4 was an easy pass for me as I don't have a Switch 2, but I am heartened by the fact that I'll still be able to buy it for full launch price, or more, ten years from now.

A hook beyond the game helps. "Here's a cool thing for your console/steam deck", "here's a game that does something I've never seen before" and so on.

yeah the harsh reality is that we do take a chance on small games no one's heard of a lot more often than anyone thinks we do. but literally no one reads the articles, which then reinforces to the powers that be that they're not worth doing. I don't know how to solve that problem!
I've been doing this all year but indie journalists have the same issues as indie games. Unless it's a big name, nobody cares.

Anecdotal, but in my experience it's the same for Youtube. If people aren't already looking for the game, or you don't have a massive audience, no one will click that video.
