If 20 years on social media has taught me anything, it's that posting is the first step towards disappointment, but I appreciate everyone who has followed, subscribed or checked out my videos, and I look forward to finding new people who love video games.

otherwise might really enjoy the things I make.

It's such a drag on the motivation to want to share something that you've made with people who actively enjoy it, and not be able to because there's a middle-man controlling the conversation for profit.
on me to go find their content if I want to actually see it.

The platform has arbitrarily decided that I really want to watch shorts, even though I have never engaged with that format, or my front page is full of whatever is popular in general. I know the same is happening to the people who-
Well first, thank you. I really enjoy making things like Octodad, even if they do HORRIBLY overall lol, and yeah, looking into the analytics tea leaves is a practice in futility.

I think the real key frustration for me is that even if I subscribe to someone's channel, the onus is entirely-

The forum's been open to the public for a single week and these are numbers that would have made me happy if they counted for an entire year.

Thanks for joining me on this ride, friends. May it be long and not too bumpy.

Guess what goes live this [FRIDAY @ 5PM EST]!

Its time to promo some killer channels made by killer people

I think I'm picking up what you're putting down, but I'm not sure how you're going to convince @seanseanson.bsky.social to put on a megaman outfit.
Pretty sure that's a tag on some sketchy websites, but legally I can't comment.
it's difficult to really grasp how stuff works under the hood as a creator with such limited data, and I thought someone might benefit.
I realized after the fact that this might come across a bit... mopey? I'm massively appreciative of everyone who has taken the time to check out the channel. I do with I better understood what my audience likes from what I've made, but mostly I just wanted to share some numbers because -
so there's some random data for you. Views are down, and the horrors persist, but so do we.
I'm not totally sure what to take away from this information, aside from the fact my CTR is still terrible, but it's the same as it always was and those videos used to get 5x-10x the number of impressions.

I think the videos are getting better, but YT doesn't seem to. Anyway, I'm a data guy -
I reached the 1k subscriber milestone on May 15th of 2025. I was curious, as I near 1300 subscribers, how many of those new 300 people had found me through the content I have published in the ~5 months since then.

According to YT, 63, with 47 of those coming from one videos, released 6 days after.
I took splash damage at merely the thought.

You've gotta be at least a Sega Genesis youtuber voice, maybe even PS2 youtuber in the last few videos.

Hate the argument of "Well you can boycott for now, but soon every game studio is going to use genAI and you won't be able to tell or avoid it anymore!!"

dude there are already more videogames in existence than I'm ever going to be able to play in my lifetime. this boycott shit is easy.
Really a shame that so many great spooky indie games all get dropped like two weeks before Halloween. No clue how anyone is supposed to play them all, much less make coverage for them.

Seems like it would just result in a lot of hard work falling through the cracks.

NEW VIDEO!
Something curious has happened at the Heilwald Clinic: a strange time loophole has been discovered, and now no one is able to die.

The Heilwald Loophole is an eccentric, offbeat and criminally underrated indie horror, and today I'd like to tell you all about it 💉

I firmly believe it is impossible for a gacha game to be good because of how they have to contort every single game design decision around the business model

They are fundamentally ruined from the very beginning

16. Mouthwashing

Yeah, I couldn't go without recommending this one, a nightmarish and deeply unsettling narrative horror game that tells its story in disjointed out-of sequence sections that just keeps getting worse and worse.

14. Hollowbody

A dystopian sci-fi take on the Silent Hill formula that takes place in the desolate remains of a sealed-off exclusion zone. It's an incredibly atmospheric game that is drenched in gloom, and the PS2 era inspired visuals and creepy soundscape really amp up the game's overbearing mood.

6. My Friendly Neighborhood

While the "cutesy childhood thing, but scary" trope is overplayed, this game radiates such a sincere love for the Sesame Street and Muppets it's a pastiche of, it feels like a revelation, and is backed by meticulously well crafted oldschool Survival Horror gameplay.

Hi, CEO of I Made It Games LLC, here. We're looking for viral indie games with a cool aesthetic that have a proven gameplay loop, narrative hook, the interest of top 1% streamers, and are 80-90% complete. In exchange for 50% of your profits we'll let you put our name on the Publisher field in Steam.
And if you aren't lucky enough to be one of those early code receivers, good luck finding any traction for your writing after the initial launch hype.

I do want to make another push for this, because it does seem even if you have an existing audience on a platform it doesn't necessarily translate to another platform and/or format, which is a bit of a downer because I worked pretty hard on this and think it might be my best written video yet...
Hey folks, my new video is out now, a review of the 2024 horror game Still Wakes The Deep, set aboard a Scottish oilrig. I'm really proud of this one, and I think it might be my best video yet! Please give it a look, and let me know what you think.
