Another great freedom unit nonsense: American heating uses BTU/hr (where 1kW is roughly 3.4k BTU/hr) for power, but electricity simply uses kW.

Had a right hook (collision w/o injury) and a left hook (i was vigilant and able to stop before crashing) on my way home today. Biking in San Francisco is still insanely dangerous.

There is a new poll (by Infratest dimap) stating that only 15% of Germans now consider the US a reliable partner.
This is probably the most anti-American sentiment the country has seen in many decades.

You and your wife drop your 6-year-old off at school. You just moved here. You see ICE terrorizing your new neighbors. You film them, as is your legal right. Your wife complies with orders. She is then shot in the head. You still have to pick up your child later today.

This could be you.

It is interesting that cars are only considered a weapon when it fits some right-wing narrative.
Meanwhile, urbanists are constantly gaslighted when pointing out the danger that people face every day from cars. #ICE

The US federal government will spend $12bn to bail out farmers next year, more than it has spent *in total* on California high-speed rail.
End the tariff boondoggle!

TIL @t-online.de rejects emails if your server does not have a mailing address listed.

We already have DMARC, DKIM, etc., and idiotic requirements like this make it harder and harder for regular people to use their own email servers.

The US now officially stopped honoring the human right to asylum. This is a bitter day for people fleeing war, hunger, or oppression.
US will limit number of refugees to 7,500 and give priority to white South Africans
Low number represents a dramatic drop after US previously allowed in hundreds of thousands of people fleeing war and persecution

Downtown and West Oakland can provide housing close to major commercial hubs and transit.
Removing this freeway will not only undo some of the damage done to the West Oakland community, but make space for a lot of affordable housing, reduce air/noise pollution, and provide new green spaces.
Caltrans is presenting on their preliminary findings for Vision 980 at the 10/16 BPAC.

The initial findings show that both the technical and community feedback planning processes support removal of 980 for a complete street, housing and parks.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.
