Local politicians in NZ can kick it off by NOT promoting, employing or excusing men who’ve harassed, abused or assaulted women. #nzpol

Stop sweeping the issue under the carpet for the ‘bigger picture’ because that bigger picture without accountability or consequences is a misogynistic hellscape.
Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. It’s a day to raise awareness around all forms of violence against women and girls and to call for an end to gender-based violence.

So ... the government just forced us all to have referendums on *existing* Māori wards because Local Communities Deserve Choice, but now they're unilaterally abolishing our regional councils because they don't like the Choices we made?

The final agreement from COP30 doesn't mention fossil fuels, argues we are only 80% of the way to 1.5C, sets out an insane timeline of GHG reductions, and mentions 'a rapidly narrowing window.'

The COP is dead and burried. And COP30 was the final nail.

Exactly this. This is both an act of deliberate cruelty towards a marginalised, vulnerable community and a trial balloon to see how far they can push, and how fast.
(Going by the last two years and the pace and volume of erosion, and active targeting of vulnerable people - very far, and very fast.)

Restricting the availability of puberty blockers to trans kids but allowing them for cis kids is a blatant violation of NZBORA (1990) and the Human Rights Act (1993).

This will undoubtedly end up in court - very quickly as the subject of a Judicial Review.
