Made my go-to salad the other day - cucumber, green beans, jelly bean tomatoes, feta, olives, and beetroot - and was shocked to discover we’re very good friends with someone who won’t eat beetroot. This is surely un-kiwi?

Golf is so weird. Huge swathes of landscape culled and privatised because men are too scared to just ask their friend if they want to go for a walk.

From an article about walking in the New York Times: “Those who regularly walked longer than 15 minutes were 80 percent less likely to die from any cause”.

Somehow I don’t think this is accurate…….

Young woman with 2cm-long fingernails on the ferry. She sticks her cellphone to the window, turns on some sort of mirror effect, and spends the forty minute trip perfecting her false eyebrows, makeup and the lie of her hair.

Apparently the emergency signal on the ferry is seven short blasts of the horn, followed by a long blast. Why not really stretch it out and make it ten short and three long? It’s not like you’ll be in a hurry during an emergency.

C’mon, they stand for road-building, fishing, and mining company owners who smoke and own numbers of rental properties.
Two years on, Luxon yet to say what Govt stands for
Opinion: Labour’s frustrating but clever strategy of saying and doing as little as possible in opposition further compounds Christopher Luxon’s problems

I’m calling bullshit on the Minister’s failure to explain why the police staff filter what his own staff get to see rather than the other way round.

I can’t believe the coalition of clowns would fudge the comparative costs between old ferry deal and new ferry deal just to try to hide their fuckup.

One of the reasons I support vaccines - me front, fourth from left at the Durban Open Air School in South Africa in the 1950s. The school still offers specialised schooling for children with physical impairments. Many of my classmates were victims of "mild" polio.

Maybe we just don’t understand, and the bridge is mainly so Kãinga Ora clients can cross to the other side?

One of the lessons of the whole Epstein email dump is presumably that if you exchange emails with dubious characters you should always copyright your emails.

My hobby is winning large Lotto draws. I’m not very good at it, but it’s cheaper than golf, and I don’t have to spend hours listening to the right-wing reckons of other golfers.

It’s just a matter of time before Trump demands that Luxon pardon McSkimming, isn’t it?
November 14, 2025 at 1:23 AM
The McSkimming saga should have been stopped at the point where he asked that a specific person be employed and assigned to the same office as him.

That's not how public services work. This is so basic, the mind just boggles.

If Statistics keeps reporting huge numbers of people leaving the country, we’ll just have to stop them collecting this data.
