7/ The strain is visible everywhere. This mental load—grief, fear, anger, helplessness—is heavy and exhausting. So I want to say something plainly, because it doesn’t seem to be said out loud often enough:

This is not how a healthy society is supposed to feel.

And I’m feeling really sad about it.

Hey RI: Both Amo and Magaziner are middle of the road enough that we cannot trust them to vote entirely against ICE.

Call whichever one of them represents you
Call your reps. Let them know that if they vote for ICE funding, you will not vote for them ever again.

Representatives need to feel the heat. NO on ICE funding. No excuses.
So the House is going to vote TOMORROW on the DHS funding bill that includes funding for ICE.

There's a real chance we can get Dems to vote NO on any bill with ICE funding to sink it.

Once it goes to the Senate we likely lose this chance.

24 hours. Go.

This assumes, of course, that law enforcement listens. But it is a good effort.
The first thing Virginia Spanberger did after being sworn in as Governor of Virginia was repeal Youngkin’s executive order requiring state and local law enforcement to cooperate with ICE.

This is the kind of leadership Democratic governors nationwide should be emulating.

It's times like these where it is good to remember that Rhode Island was founded on tolerance and freedom of conscience. We welcome all people except those who aren't tolerant of others.

As a Brown alum, I think this should be a decision made with the input of those who were there that day. It had occurred to me that the room might be renovated but is that erasure? The more pressing question is: how do we stop this from happening so we don't have to make these kind of decisions?

Contacted @whitehouse.senate.gov and @amo.house.gov to express my opposition to what Trump is doing in Venezuela. I don't know enough about Maduro to have an opinion on him. But I do know that the president should not be doing this without persuading Congress and getting a declaration of war.

Contact your congressperson to support this bill. @amo.house.gov I expect your support for this effort.
It is very unlikely that an impeachment push will gain traction in the Republican-controlled Congress, though the move does have strong support among the scientific, medical, and public health communities.

After reading @zachweinersmith.bsky.social "A City on Mars", I'm wondering why we are doing any of this. Short term manned exploration might make sense since humans can make decisions that robots can't. Otherwise, robots seem the best bet for science.
