Your annual friendly reminder that tests on the last day of school and homework over the break are archaic classroom practices that need to stop. Your poor planning is not your students' responsibility, and it *never* accomplishes what you want it to. #edusky

Listening to the rain through an open window on VI in December is the only bedtime routine I need this week. I can't thank perimenopause for much, but this is one gift. 🤣

Someone explain for me like I'm five why we're not having a bigger conversation about the prevalence of H1N1 and H3N2 influenza rates this year as we were in 2009 and 1968 respectively.
Confirmed flu cases jump nearly 61%: federal data
Laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza have jumped by almost 61 per cent, according to recent data released Friday.

Spoiler alert, it's 💯 not just university. It's rampant in high schools, too.
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

I think it’s bad, actually, to play political chess with Indigenous rights.

Canada should be focused on nation-building. Instead we are getting sucked into a needless pipeline war to appease Moe and Danielle Smith.
If the PM tries to kill the tanker ban without consulting BC premier Eby or First Nations he will be in for the fight of his life.
And he will lose.

One of the last protests of a time before social media was weaponized against us and MAGA was unleashed on the world. We are still the 99%.
It's still wild to me how much we've memory holed Occupy Wallstreet.

Listen, kids. If I can't hear your voice in your writing, I'm going to check your version history and throw it through at least 3 AI checkers. Every, damned, time. And THEN I'm going to decide whether it's worth grading at all. #edusky

I'm sure it's entirely coincidental, but yesterday I posted about the economic burden on the missing middle, and the LPC failure to address it, and today I'm receiving targeted ads from Pierre Poilievre on FB. Sigh. #cdnpoli

Guys, *this* is a problem. Those people benefiting the least from liberal governance are also the people being directly targeted by the CPC. This graph shows you the Xennial and Millennial affordability crisis in a nutshell. #cdnpoli

Tonight's even more proof the mainstream reporters who are still on Twitter are suffering from a brain problem akin Havana Syndrome that is preventing them from accurately doing their jobs. They are being cooked alive by a snuff-focused apartheid algorithm.

Another election would be purely political. I also don't want austerity, which has never worked anywhere and makes life more difficult for the people who can least afford it. Carney is a red conservative. Three things can be true at the same time. #cdnpoli

One day, someone will connect all of the the IDU dots going back to 1985, and we'll be able to enjoy our lives again without a global, christofascist, dominionist cabal telling us that human rights, dignity and decency are not entitlements, right? RIGHT?

SoOoOoOo...it stopped raining long enough for Halloween fireworks in #Nanaimo, and, it turns out that I'm a total humbug about amateur fireworks. Maybe if I didn't have a freaked out dog, it might be different. Maybe not. 🫤
