omg it was because Slack was switching my earbuds to "handset mode" for huddles, but never changing it back after my call ended!
The Bluetooth connection from my Galaxy 24 to my fancy new earbuds is so, ridiculously, so so so much better, in terms of audio quality, than the one from my new Mac Studio.
