The tunnel was tight. His shoulders scraped both walls as he crawled on his hands and knees. The floor beneath him felt oddly pliable and spongy, flexing under his weight like a wet carpet. Moisture from the walls soaked into his sleeves. He tried and failed not to think too hard about what he was crawling through. He imagined a throat that could choose to swallow him at any moment. “You sure this is safe?” he called ahead. She didn’t answer him, but glanced over her shoulder and offered him a flash of her lemon-slice grin. “Lovely.” He muttered, trying not to slip as he rounded a bend in the tunnel. His knees were now soaked with…something. “I will need an industrial-strength shower after this.”

Took 3 days but I've worked thru my entire manuscript. I've probably made close to a thousand notes & corrections-ouch! This was an emotional roller coaster of hating my book, loving it, & hating it again, but ending w/ a firece resolve to make it the best book I can!📖

Ordered a copy of my scfi-romance novel just for me thru Lulu, Cover art and design from GetCovers (only teasing it for now), and formatted with scrivener to practice going thru the whole process. I can't wait to mark it up and paper it in post it notes. So estatic I have gotten this far! Strange Salvage will hopefully be completed in spring 2026.

But his drink no sooner hit the bar when it was snatched up by a scaley ashen hand. The Xint with one eye had snuck up next to them with surprising speed. The reptile leaned on the bar, uncomfortably close to Joe, and gave a low hiss, thier glassy yellow eye sizing him up. The Xint was smaller than him by at least a foot, but their claws and teeth were quite formidable. “You look soft, human. I thought your kind would be bigger.” They hissed a sharp laugh and ruefully twisted their tongue in the stolen glass, slurping up its contents. He returned their cruel gaze with a bemused expression. “You enjoying that?” Joe asked, probably against his better judgement. The Xint’s large eye quivered. They reared forward, spines fully up, but Joe refused to budge. Shit. He hadn’t even been here ten minutes and he was already being challenged. The Xint’s gang pushed in behind them to watch, waiting to see how Joe was going to react to their leader’s provocation. To them, he was probably tonight's entertainment. How annoying.

It was an alien. She tensed, lips pressed into a thin line. It shouldn’t have surprised her, other species traveled with Esponian crews all the time. But still, her heart quickened and sent a viridescent wave of apprehension through her bioluminescent markings. She bit her lip, leaning closer to get a better look. She just hoped this alien was one of the friendlier kind. Slowly, she crawled toward the survivor’s face, hidden beneath the pod’s life-support mask. The visor was fogged, streaked with condensation. She hesitated, then gingerly gripped the mask and tugged. With a sticky pop, the seal broke and peeled away. A pale face appeared before her—cold and still, yet fragile in its deathlike repose. Thier eyes remained closed, framed by dark lashes. Thier lips, tinged faintly blue, parted slightly. A black tangle of something—clung damply to their forehead. It looked like…hair? Minns’ eyes widened, a golden flash of wonder rippling through her head fronds. I know what you are, you’re a— “Human. Male.” MX interjected, as if reading her mind. “You should not have pulled him out so quickly. The pod requires several intervals to stabilize—”

The Nostromo's interiors are really what makes this ship iconic, it felt rough, lived in . The design is retro by today's standards, with the chunky tech, bulkheads, and blinking lights, but confined spaces and creepy corridors make it a perfect backdrop for terror! 🚀💀

Fun fact: The Nostromo was designed to feel like a “space truck.” Ridley Scott wanted it gritty, industrial, and blue-collar She is more tugboat than starship. Her main purpose was to haul a mile long ore refinery (too bad she couldnt handle the alien cargo 😨) ☕🔧
