My performance from @xcoax.org 2025 reworking Pulsar Threads in realtime, so Pulsar Threading. It's intense, even for me. Topped, tailed & tweaked simultaneous scrubbed, scratched, scuffed & skewed material sourced from nuPg £0 || nyp #computermusic #noise pixelmechanics.bandcamp.com/track/pulsar...

It's been great to see Autechre support local artists as support acts on tour. Highly recommend having a listen to this by nnirror, who was their support in Detroit

No hesitation here. Green Fingers is my favourite on this.

Too many good songs to choose from on here, but today I think my favourite is Alcoholiday

The demographic at the Autechre show in Glasgow last night. (Actually there was a lot of different people, and it was incredible)
Cloned my clone. Submitted my chapter a day before deadline, and also a festival submission!

What's brilliant about working a music dept is that I hear all sorts of things being rehearsed in the room below me. However, there is a barbershop quartet rehearsing christmas songs below me right now, and it's a bit much.

Halloween. Not quite my favourite, but one to lead off with. McGeoch's slashing guitar is excellent here, and surprising to hear him flub the start (although he'd flub complete songs later) youtu.be/XIYj8ueEg2c

I listen to Loop *a lot* & they were really important to me learning to play guitar. First heard Collision on John Peel's Festive 50 in 1988 & was smitten. Got *really* sunburned listening to Fade Out on the beach in Calella a year later on a field trip! This album steered me towards stranger shores
#NowPlaying an old favourite I've not listened to in far too long...

The string machines in Say Hello, Wave Goodbye are among my favourite synthy moments of any song, and Bedsitter is minimal percussive bliss but my favourite Soft Cell is Torch. Soft cells of rolling melodies...

First band I saw live, and, unsurprisingly, I love this record.

My favourite moment of Off Brand's set at last TFEH was @gianttank.bsky.social telling/asking Firas to reconsider what he was doing (which was wall of guitar) to give more space for Ali's amplified objects. I enjoyed performance ofc, but also seeing that moment of owning 'this isn't working for me'.
Improvisational music groups should get up to two timeouts per set in case they need to talk things over or want to break up a run of bad energy.

Probably heresy but Kicking Against The Pricks is my favourite Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds album, or it's the one I play most, at least.

The best Doctor Who episode doesn't have the Doctor in it. It's a single episode spin-off called K9 and Company featuring some very satanic ritual witchcraft scenes which terrified me as a child in 1981. It's available on iPlayer so it can terrify kids today, excellent! www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

Amazing! As I'll take any opportunity to say, @elleesaich.bsky.social is my very *very* favourite person working in computer music. Here she is bossing it at Tectonics in Glasgow in May. She even had her own badge!

Of the three This Mortal Coil albums, this is the one I listen to the most. It'll End in Tears has some great individual tracks, Blood has some fun moments, but Filigree and Shadow starts off Filigree and ends in Shadow. Ivy and Neet is my favourite on this.

Timepark by @mhasselbalch.bsky.social is great! Ambient but noisy, droning but detailed, calm but restless etc. One of my favourite releases of this year.

Many years ago I shared a nod with the Bass Thing from The Wonderstuff in Tower Records on Broadway. He worked there after he quit the band. I think I was wearing a PWEI t-shirt at the time. There was a great weekend market in the lot next door where this woman called Scary Mary sold handpainted Ts.
