While I don’t love the message of “You can’t always get what you want”, I do like the fake-out opening. People are probably always putting it on and thinking “Oh no. This is just a bunch of boring old church music. I was hoping for some rock & roll. I really CAN’T get what I want!”

The meaning of (especially instrumental) music comes more from its relation to other music than from the narrative within the music itself. Except maybe in the case of novelty joke tapes, where content AND form of the music are equally important, which is why this is the most serious music genre.

You’d think conservatives would be into subtle drone music or certain strains of minimal techno as forms which might convey the idea of keeping things as they are, as opposed to having more dramatic, radical changes, but in my experience this isn’t normally the case.

“Dorfmeister” in English would be something like “champion of the village” so to call yourself that implies, in his case, that he won the electronica competition at a village fair. I don’t think “Kruder” means anything, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he won a few village electronica contests as well

This is one of the things that makes music special and whenever you’re lucky enough to be in a situation where you hear more than one piece of music at once, it’s important to really appreciate what a valuable experience that is.

One thing that sets music apart from other art forms is that you can listen to two pieces of music simultaneously. With other forms, you can alternate between two, but you can’t easily read two books at the exact same moment and you can’t focus on two different paintings at the same time.

If you’ve only read the Taylor Swift lyrics but haven’t actually listened to the songs, you’re not getting that it’s mostly done spoken-word through an octave down pitch shifter over 180bpm supersaw arpeggios and gabber kicks, and honestly works really well.
