Here’s the thing even if we did send military forces into Panama the insurgency that would start would be pretty hard to deal with considering we trained all of the SOF guys in the Panamanian Public Forces.
CNN: You may not like his style or approach to diplomacy, but if he does successfully push China back w/ regard to influence in the Americas, could this threat be worth angering Panama?

In all seriousness, mucking about with Panama so that companies have to pay a little less money, is a great way to drive a country with a strategic asset that allows us to utilize our naval power effectively into the arms of our competitors.

The other reason why it's so repulsive to see people saying the fall of Assad is actually a CIA/Zionist joint operation is that the Syrian people suffered immensely under the Assad family yet you think they have no agency and now of all times is when we decided for Assad to go
There's something deeply ironic about how the Westerners who espouse slogans like "power to the people" are the most likely to believe that the only agency that exists outside of the United States of America is the Central Intelligence Agency

I didn't really predict that a a bunch of companies working to make life cheaper and more convenient would start us on a path to just NEVER INTERACTING WITH HUMANS and that seems very bad and like something to push back very hard against.

Great thread in total but this specifically is significant if HTS can co-opt and work with municipal authorities in captured areas that is step 1 on the road to following through on Jolani’s promises.
The relatively sophisticated PR effort & swift pivot from military-to-governing is already having some effect. #Aleppo's hospitals remain fully staffed, the city police & defected soldiers are already signing up to join the SSG's Interior Ministry payroll.

If you are curious as to why there hasn't been such a push toward Latakia, consider the terrain. Most of the areas HTS control are about 5 miles away from the base of the hills/mountains that separate them from the coast.
