It is time for the one part of the writing process I absolutely dread: choosing possible titles for my book.

My agent and my editor help. I’m still very bad at it.

Also, Mythwoven Book 3 will have a title and a release date very soon 😉🐺🌹

I alphabetized this list because we have so many saying that it can be hard to track what I have and have not recorded without a system.

We occasionally debate if a saying is too new or if it has reached enough usage to gain a place on the list.
Not the whole list, but I believe this is a good cross-section.

This has been a really rough few days. I recently learned of a controversy around our book THE PRINCESS IN BLACK AND THE PRINCE IN PINK. Some were outraged that Deseret Book carried it (a chain of bookstores in the west). Deseret Book appears to have complied to their demands and removed it. 1/

Two books for spooky season:
COFFIN MOON, Keith Rosson: Best modern vampire story ever (although it's set in the 70s).
THE TWISTED ONES, by T. Kingfisher: It lures you in with chatty good humor (especially about NPR Pledge Week) and a lovely dog...then slams the door and bites you in the dark.

Today I got to visit the Truelove Seeds farm where I wandered away from my group when became distracted by the quality of golden light coming over the tops of the evergreen trees in the late afternoon. It was golden, shifting fast, and illuminating the petals of blooming flowers like treasures.

Two years ago a friend was scammed by a fraudulent business which left her without a wedding photographer. I stepped in and photographed her wedding, and in return she used her horticultural skills to design and plant a garden in the back strip of my house in West Philly.

Most of the photography I do these days is related to nature. Flowers and wildlife are my models and landscapes are my settings. It’s tough to carve out time for art between work and parenthood. I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to get back to it someday, or find time once a year to create.

if queer readers all drop off suddenly but they were only buying queer books to begin with, all publishers see is that queer books suddenly aren't selling. please know that their response to this will never be anything but deciding queer books aren't worthwhile haha

In an effort to get my child to get back into bed, I asked her if she wanted to be tucked in by Monsieur Momengraff, who comes into your room on tiptoes and says "sshhh!" and "No no, iz no time for the speaking. Iz time for the beddy-byes" before tucking you in and throwing a cream pie in your face.

The other day a fan told me that they had never seen a trans or genderqueer character in a mainstream book before, and that seeing them in HAWKGIRL helped them sort out their own gender identity.

Stories are far from pointless, especially in the hands of those who need them.
I think yesterday I might have disagreed with this, but I just read THE LILAC PEOPLE by Milo Todd and it really hit me; if erasing our lives and history is a core goal of Nazis and fascists (it is), that must mean that writing about us is a way to fight them.
It is easy to feel this way but I truly think, for trans writers at least, writing books now is urgent. Write good books about your friends, get them printed, get them widely distributed, get them in the world. There has never before been an opportunity like the one we currently possess to do this.
