i have a high reading level for my age
humanity to me is putting the cat paw brick at a height children can see it
I’ve posted this before but the light was perfect today- a little Victorian cat paw in a brick at the front of the old Norfolk & Norwich Hospital. As this is on the front-facing corner of the main gates, the bricklayer quite clearly put it there on purpose, at a height where children would spot it.

My Skate Story review's up: "It's an esoteric art installation and interactive concept album navigated via powerslide and axel grind: a mesmerizing ode to the miserable occupants of an uncannily familiar underworld."

This year, much of my focus has been on PC Gamer's Weird Weekend column, which I flagrantly abused to fill some hyper-specific knowledge gaps that have bugged me for ages. Since the year's nearly up, I thought I'd put together a thread of my favourite pieces: www.pcgamer.com/tag/weird-we...

i do puzzmo crosswords every morning (because i am 87) and my only complaint is that having that hateful yellow man shout the name of the app at me before the sun is up burns out new regions of my brain every time
If you're trying to ditch NYT Games, which you should be since their games singlehandedly prop up the entire dogshit rag financially, you should switch to Puzzmo. An annual sub is 50% off today for a crazy $19 and as a bonus doesn't enable the genocides of Palestinians and trans people
Puzzmo — The (new) place for thoughtful puzzles.
Re-imagined mainstays like the daily Crossword Puzzle, modern classics like Really Bad Chess and SpellTower, and even a few brand new puzzles.

the thing orwell and his awful rules for writing fail to understand is that a $10 word is almost always funnier than a 50c one
there is almost no feedback I will reflexively ignore as a game developer but “you shouldn’t name something X because people don’t know that word” is one of them. oh no! You might learn a new word! God forbid you take away a piece of knowledge from a game that’s not a brand of gun or some shit lol

I was on the latest episode of Button Mash to talk about all the surprise Steam hits of 2025, and how you just can't predict the year in gaming without leaving a few blank spots for the surprise REPOs and Schedule 1s of the world.
I also highly recommend this, though I'm a bit biased: open.spotify.com/episode/4mVS...

The stakes are huge — and the company and its critics say regulations need to catch up.
