Just thinking about the Skubal deal - I think the Tigers simultaneously didn’t move him soon enough while also waiting a year too long. Trade return is less than after 24, and the fans are even more in love with him, the only move for them that isn’t self-sabotage is sacking up and paying him.

early WBC discourse is about whether ohtani and yamamoto should sit it out so they can be rested for the regular season. to which i say: it's insane on a superteam like the dodgers to skip an event like the olympics or world baseball classic so you can be fresh for april baseball
