The old nativist-left alliance between socialists and NIMBYs has been broken. This is promising.
Learning that Annemarie Gray (no relation) of Open New York, NYC's YIMBY group, has been appointed to Mayor-elect Mamdani's housing transition team. This is FANTASTIC news!

@tromano.bsky.social wrote an oral history of the Village Voice. @ericacbarnett.bsky.social & I will be interviewing her tonight at Elliott Bay. 7pm. Free. Here's the Village Voice from the week I was born. Stokely Carmichael's original "Black Power" exhortation and also the Beatles on the cover.

It's great that my post quoting Mayor-elect Katie Wilson's war-on-cars remark is racking up LIKES as if it's that movie shot where someone wins the slots jackpot. But juxtaposed w/ the crickets on a post I did yesterday about antisemitism. Well. Predictable. But. Makes it more obvious than usual
November 21, 2025 at 10:29 PM
As a Jew who's alarmed about antisemitism these days, I'm comforted by Dem leaders like AOC who still see the bad guys of my inherited trauma as the defining, universal example of humanity's bad guys. Eloquent AF per usual from AOC.
AOC to @pabloreports.bsky.social : A swastika is one of the clearest symbols of hatred in all of humanity… to remove that designation… indicates a possible collaboration with those very elements, which I think is genuinely frightening to any American.

Hell yes. Mayor-elect Wilson: We need to make it possible for more people to live in this city without owning a car. Not just for people who don’t own cars. As more people move to Seattle, we have limited space. It’s just not possible to keep adding cars to the road. publicola.com/2025/11/20/s...

Just went through spam and saw a pile of emails from Dawn Mason, a longtime Bruce Harrell ally he brought onstage at his election party, calling me "white trash" and a "petty thief," and claiming I went to her house one time univited (a bizarre falsehood she keeps repeating.) Such strange behavior.

Talk about the promise of "Affordability" as a winning rejoinder to the Republicans nazi populism. There's certainly a metaphor in the 118% ridership increase.

Want to, but can't seem to work this line (pilfered from a transit pal who just visited Tokyo for the first time) into a poem: "The trains don't arrive every minute, they arrive every 60 seconds."

Ryan, I'm kind looking forward to it. 4 years of getting to poke fun as they slip on their own doozies and comeuppance.
Can't say I'm looking forward to at least four more years of this type of disingenuousness.
The disingenuous whiners at the Seattle Times ed board actually suggested that Katie Wilson—mayor-elect and the founder of the Transit Riders Union (who used to do outreach at the bus stop on Third and Union)—doesn't know that the county, not the city, runs the buses. Cry harder, losers

Wilson doesn’t fit the old social justice stereotype where socialists and NIMBYs align in a reactionary, almost nativist left coalition. Wilson is too 21st century, more AOC than Bernie Bro, for such hokey self righteousness. www.joshfeitpoetry.com/blog/im-all-...

Seattle's bumping. In the last 48 hours I've been at packed coffeeshops, 2 different crowded restaurants, on packed light rail trains & buses, at 2 packed bars, and out on the jumping streets. I'm not saying this is about Katie Wilson. But she IS more of a match for what's happening in our city.
