"road-test" meaning lie.
President Donald Trump will road-test his claims that he’s tackling Americans’ affordability woes at a Tuesday rally in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania — shifting an argument made in Oval Office appearances and social media posts to a campaign-style event. https://to.pbs.org/48KvClw

The trip comes as polling consistently shows that public trust in Trump's economic leadership has faltered.

My God!
They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

bad faith sophistry from Cotton. There is no credible argument justifying killing shipwrecked survivors

If he thinks the law is wrong, he is free to try and rewrite it. He is a Senator. But what he can't do is pretend his personal preference is in any way a good faith interpretation of clear law.
WELKER: Lawmakers say the 2 men appeared to raise their arms potentially to surrender. Why did Admiral Bradley interpret these actions as anything other than them trying to survive?

TOM COTTON: They were sitting or standing on top of a capsized boat. They weren't floating helplessly in the water

Everyone, please update your personal dictionaries to include the term "Dunglish". It sparks joy.
There's a cycle to it. You learn English wid de horribel eggsend. You polish as you go. Learn how to do mid-Atlantic newscaster perhaps. And then you (re?)discover the absolute joy in hamming up the Dunglish to cringe up family, friends and colleagues.
