Quiet Tokyo — Pentax P3, Hands On Film Midnight 1600

Came across colour ISO 1600 film for the first time and had to give it a try. Not bad shooting all freehand.

Found my old iPhone X while packing and it felt so slim and comfortable, my thumb could easily reach across the screen without constantly having to reposition my hand. Had that phone for 5 years and it was already almost 2 years old when I got it. Peak smartphone, if I could keep using it I would.

Every time I move to a new place I fill a box with random stuff that I promise myself I’ll “deal with later” and never do.

I don’t just want to see movies that I want to see, I also want to see movies my friends want to see and I want to see them with them.

One of the best takes on AI and art I’ve seen yet.

Much as I despise gen AI, it forces us to examine what art is on a fundamental level, which is worthy of reflection. But the real issue is our increasingly cynical society that’s allowing art to become automated.

I miss the days when people genuinely made stupid stuff just for the hell of it. Can't even enjoy internet nonsense anymore without feeling like it was only made for engagement.

Huge shocker! Turns out Alberta separatism is actually just a US-backed psy-op for oil and the people pushing it don’t actually want to be independent.

New deep dive just dropped!

Haunted house mazes I would like to see:

- Alien spaceship with abductees being dissected like Fire in the Sky
- Liminal mall playing eerie vaporwave with repeat areas so you feel like you're going in circles
- Sinking ocean liner that gets progressively steeper with water creeping up portholes.

You can get pretty much the same experience as Tron: Ares by putting on the NIN soundtrack and driving around the most boring parts of your city at night staring at the tail lights of other vehicles.

Ordering takeout lately:

- Check Google Maps, find a place nearby that looks good
- Menu opens in Uber Eats
- Need to update the Uber app
- Need SMS and email verification to sign in
- Signed in, ok back to Google Maps to open Uber
- Check the menu — $30/meal??
- Fuck it, I’m making rice and beans.

If someone’s not mourning the death of Robert Redford in a manner that’s consistent with your views, make sure you set up a database, call their employer, and get them fired.

Been really into Hardspace Shipbreaker lately, first person game where you’re a salvage worker breaking down spaceships for components and raw materials in low earth orbit. It’s…dangerously effective at tricking you into feeling productive.

Just when I was weighing which streaming service to unsubscribe from this month, Criterion Channel adds 70s Thrillers and Nunsploitation collections. Well then, definitely not Criterion.

Am I the only one who thinks the bigger story here is news outlets not even mentioning that Trump’s Oval Office address was AI generated? Not surprising for
Trump but reality is officially fucked if the media legitimizes AI generated video released by government officials.
