As I’m nomming my way through Brigands & Breadknives and enjoying it on the “new” Kindle 4, one thing I note is that while the Amazon software still works well, this is definitely it in its earliest forms. Which is fine, I don’t need a dozen settings.

One thing I really notice is no clock […]

I don’t go to concerts. Too much sensory stuff, usually.

The one notable exception: Over the Rhine. Love them. Don’t need earplugs to hear them live. They’re funny, sweet, and have beautiful voices. I truly don’t understand how they never launched to be more of […]

I don’t know about #koreader for the kindle 4 — so far it seems clunky and confusing to me, especially with buttons instead of a touchscreen. But the kindle reading software is just fine, especially with #calibre managing which books are on it.

No, the best part of jailbreaking is this!

The amount of scammy emails, mails, and phone calls elderly people get is fucking unreal. I really wish I could make them stop. (Yes, I’ve got phone numbers on do not call lists and have attempted to remove names from mailing addresses. Has not worked one whit to stem the tide.)

Tried to get #koreader on my Kindle4, but got stuck at the #kual part.

Did the jailbreak (seemed to work), installed MKK, installed an updated cert from here (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4506164&postcount=1295), but clicking on the KUAL file gives me a "not signed by […]

The Seattle area has been dealing with rapid population growth and development for decades. That tends to increase pollution in local lakes and streams. But good news -- the environmental protections we've put in place since the 1990s seem to be working! Our crown jewel, Lake Washington, had […]

Sending my doctor a bunch of content about #hrt and migraine with aura and feeling anxious. I wish #perimenopause and migraine were studied more (always the sadness about "women's issues" and research).

I think I'm reading that transdermal estrogen at low doses is good and only minimally […]

Lucifer just had a phrase that went, "I'm not the same male slut I was..." and I literally just blew my top. "Female CEO", "Male slut". Jesus Christ, NEITHER OF THESE ARE GENDERED, nor do they need to be.

Ridiculous amounts of squee’ing last night when I noticed a family of four perusing the #weefreecommunitylibrary for a good while. Now if I could only guess appropriate age of reading material from spying on the height of kids. 🤣😂 I feel like that’s the part I just don’t know — what books “look […]

Follow up on the "Vegan Salted Egg Fish skin" recipe:

That recipe's topping (fried curry leaves, cashews, nutritional yeast, tumeric, black salt, optional MSG) is freaking DELICIOUS on popcorn.

The recipe again in case you're curious: https://www.periuk.my/recipes/vegan-salted-egg-fish-skin/ […]

Omg I wish we had smelly toots (not like that, ew).

But, I would totally share with all y’all a snapshot of the amazing broth scent I’ve got going right now. Mid-season tomatoes and other summer veggies that I couldn’t finish. Chunks of chicken and fresh slaughtered pig that @Wham and I went in […]

Someday I want to go to Southeast Asia. But where to start?

For folks who have lived there or travelled there, what’s a great place to go as an adventurous eater from the US and lover of towns or cities? (Happy to do rural spots too, but towns generally have better food. Priorities!)

I got a Kindle 4 off of ebay for around $30 so I can try throwning KOReader on it and see what happens. And of course, I've lived my ENTIRE LIFE without having KO Reader on anything. But now I'm checking the package every 5 minutes and my brain can't think of anything else. :P

Frying curry leaves always feels a bit like taking my life into my own hands. 😅🤣

And also fried curry leaves are so damn tasty that if I have extras and am frying things, welp, I’m risking my life.

[trans healthcare advice (US-specific)]

A technical thing that I'm exploring:

In short: I have an old Kindle (Keyboard 3G) that functions perfectly except it won't connect to the internet and is therefore rendered useless. I have a more modern Kindle that connects and works, but I'd like to use the old one occasionally in certain […]

The Storyteller mobile game on Netflix is an utterly charming little puzzle game. I didn’t find it too difficult, but discovering the mechanics was a delight. The initial set of puzzles is pretty short, so you can finish the game relatively quickly. Highly recommended.
