Bloke with a painfully short attention span and a love of British naval war films.
I think might be the last person in my company working today, though to be honest not a lot is happening. I’m mainly sitting here resenting the customers who are (very) occasionally contacting me.

You know it’s bad news when Fergus Walsh is presenting a story on BBC News. Still could be worse, could be Orla Guerin.

Nice to hear Tice having to defend Farage’s antisemitism on Today, and getting a bit of a kicking from Emma Barnett. Shame it wasn’t Farage.

Steve Cropper, one of my favourite guitarists, and the genius writing so much of Stax’s output has died. Looks pretty cool in this clip too.

The hypocrisy of the media going after Reeves for supposedly misleading the British public, when they gave a free hand to all those Brexit lies is, predictably, not surprising.

Huge respect to the papers for finding both an 88 year old worried about the tax bill on her 6 bedroom Kensington house and a 20 year old fretting about only being able to save £12k a year tax free.
Top work all around. These are not easy case studies to find.

Our beautiful silver birch always clings onto its leaves for longer than its neighbours. Gorgeous golden luminescence.

First Woolwich away, and PSG away tonight. Not sure I can handle this much humiliation in one week. No wonder Saturday’s Fulham tickets have gone on general sale.

Jimmy Cliff has crossed the final river. For my money reggae’s greatest soul singer.

Currently re-reading Evelyn Waugh’s Sword of Honour trilogy. What a brilliant portrait of a now vanished well-to-do England in the 30s and 40s. Terrific writing.

In Morocco for a couple of days. Making ourselves go slowly blind on cocktails made from the local whiskey.

U2. Just not very good. Poor musicians too, I reckon I could work out the bass parts to most of their songs in about 5 minutes, and I’ve not picked up a bass in more than 30 yrs.
What is your biggest musical blindspot for someone precisely your age?

For me - an elder millennial - it is that I have never knowingly listened to INCUBUS, nor could I name even one of their songs if you put a gun to my head.

There is nothing more tedious in journalism than BBC news reporting on BBC news. Self-regarding nonsense.

The Tories spent 14 years blaming the country’s economic woes on Labour, but Labour aren’t afforded 14 months of blaming the Tories?
