Great work here by the Posit team. If you give an LLM a plot designed to show a relationship, the LLM will extremely frequently describe the relationship it expects to see, rather than what the plot actually shows!
A barplot. The title of the barplot is "Models often report what they expect to see, not what's plotted" with the subtitle "With well-known datasets like mtcars". The Y-axis labels three well known LLMs, "GPT-5", "Gemini Pro 2.5", and "Claude Sonnet 4.5". The X-axis shows the percentage of plots each LLM correctly described. Each LLM scores less than 10% of plots described correctly.

Someone needs to teach the Strava data scientists about monotonicity

it's not a good sign for transit that to go from climate pledge to capital hill, the faster route is actually taking the monorail and then the light rail than it is hopping on a bus that just goes straight along denny
