I also really didn't like the story, but I won't get into spoilers.

It's a shame that Metroid Prime 4 let me down this much, after such a long wait. It's not a bad game, but my expectations were way higher. It's my least favorite Prime game by far but it doesn't reach series lows - it's not Other M or Hunters bad, at least - I didn't feel physical pain while playing

At a certain point, I realized the game was just becoming a linear sci-fi action shooter. But it wasn't even particularly astonishing at being that. It just made me wish I was replaying Titanfall 2 instead.

And while the art design was impeccable, the level design didn't even come close to living up to it. These worlds looked amazing but a lot of them amounted to a bunch of linear hallways. And anytime you tried to stray off the beaten path, when there was a way to stray off of it, you were told not to

The overworld and bike... I really don't know why they were here. Once I got the hang of the controls, it was kind of fun to ride the bike, but the overworld just felt like padding. It was ugly to look at, it was empty, and music was locked behind an amiibo which is just baffling.

Another thing I liked: certain abilities were pretty cool and I would like to see them return. However, psychic abilities were hit or miss for me and I would have preferred seeing more focus on brand new abilities.

That one area had lore and a story you can piece together through scanning which is what I had wished would permeate the entire game, but it seemed relegated to that one area for some reason. The scanning otherwise was very undercooked and underwhelming.

First, what I liked about it: the art design, music, and atmosphere are top notch and exactly what I want from the series. There is one area in particular that is what I wanted the whole game to be like.
