Odd that the DoJ is opening an investigation into the Epstein files since they said in July that there was no client list and nothing to release.

instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

Quick update to yesterday's post: I texted Steve Oberman (who organizes the Las Vegas seminar) to make sure he didn't need anything, and now I'm teaching two sessions on opening statements on Saturday! Spoke too soon when I said I wouldn't be teaching at the seminar yesterday! 1/2

I'm celebrating a personal milestone today: I have now spoken at legal conferences put on by state bar organizations and defense attorney groups in 20 states (Thank you Maine Commission on Public Defender Services for having me!). I have always had the public speaking bug. 1/4

Don't really care which side of the aisle you are on. Witnesses are at a Congressional hearing to answer questions, not make speeches or attack the questioner. When they don't, they should be required to answer, or held in contempt. That would happen in about 5 minutes in court.

I always wondered if Ghislaine Maxwell's trial judge excluded or limited any evidence from the Epstein files and, if granted a new trial, releasing them would have given her an argument she couldn't get a fair trial. Now that the Supremes denied her appeal, there's no reason to worry about that.

To my fellow cishet dudes: when we are quiet about supporting the trans community, the only voices anyone hears are the Charlie Kirks of the world. Don't let accusations of being "performative" or "virtue signaling" shut you up - that's their whole point. Our voices are needed now more than ever.

Hi: I'm the canceled speaker. It's bad for free speech & sends a dangerous message, too, at a time when Trump has turned the Nat'l Guard into de facto police. It also implies that the military is a wing of presidential, not constitutional defense—

Here's the video Trump just posted to Truth Social, with the claim that 11 people aboard the boat were killed.

There is zero evidence of self-defense here. Looks like a massacre of civilians at sea.

Even if they had drugs aboard, that's not a capital offense.
