There’s a cohort of national media that’s pretty openly been cheering for him instead of covering him

It’s similar in Champions League where the Europa League winner gets an auto bid there, and so does the actual defending Champions League winner

There are ways to give eliminated Tier 1 teams juice. My idea would be a “NIT”-like 24 team knockout in parallel where 3rd place Tier 1 teams get a bye, and 4th place teams would play 2nd place Tier 2 teams. The winner gets an auto bid to the next World Cup (so does the winner of the real World Cup)

I just assume that FIFA is going to expand the field to 64 at some point and this would be a more digestible way to do that at least. Tier 2 could expand to 8 groups of 4, and only the winner would get to advance to the Knockout stage.

The one area I haven’t thought through is how to eliminate collusion incentives in Tier 2, given that there’s no real difference between winning and finishing second there. But it at least contains that risk to Tier 2 and should virtually eliminate it in Tier 1 by making the payoff so different

This proposal separates the 48 qualified teams into two tiers- 32 in tier 1 and 16 in tier 2. Tier 1 would have 8 groups of 4, Tier 2 would have 4 groups of 4. The 8 winners of Tier 1 get an automatic bye to the round of 16 in knockouts. Tier 1 runner-ups play a top 2 Tier 2 team in round of 24

I’ve been lower on Steen than most for awhile, so I’m open to looking for an upgrade there if there’s someone who grades very high. But other than replenishing some depth on Days 2 and 3, it’s not where I’d prefer to use my capital

If we wind up in the most extreme scenario I’ve outlined before, the reaction is going to be “why would anyone want to coach this team?” I couldn’t disagree more. This is a highly desirable situation where the issues this year are mostly either temporary things or of their own choice.

Even the things which are concerning to some extent (may need a new tight end, might not have AJ) involve players whose prime is already over. Goedert isn’t the same player- at least in the run game- he was. AJ’s succumbing to age already.

Crack Toss and the occasional Iso were the others it looked like Kellen brought with him. I didn’t remember past Stoutland O-Lines running those much.

Think it’s more like Chip Kelly’s 49ers stint

This is my way of saying I think there’s a real chance Nick gets fired this year, and it’s going to blow so many pundits’ minds if it happens

Loeffler I think is the actual answer, maybe Parks Frazier or Jason Michael. Basically, someone who is on the offensive staff that is neither Sirianni himself nor Patullo.

(Shurmur was demoted but not fired)
