page 49 of my WIP Gut Feeling
I went inside, closed the door, and then walked to the bedroom to get clean clothes. I looked at my phone as I walked, and there was a text from Deborah. My heart leaped into my throat, the way it always did when I heard from her now. Wear the gift I gave you. I thought immediately of the plug in its hiding spot between the mattress and box spring in the guest suite bedroom. Just thinking about it, sitting in there, I wanted to check on it. I wanted to look at it and feel its weight in my hand and remind myself that it’s a real thing and it's evidence of not only my infidelity, but of my newfound relationship with Deborah. That was the exciting part. That was the part that made me close my eyes and think about yesterday afternoon. I was still so horny, even though George had dampened the fire just a bit. I changed into my comfortable sleep clothes and walked back through the house. George was still in the hot tub, looking at his phone. I could see him through the window. I looked at the message from Deborah. Okay. I texted back, and almost immediately she responded. Ma’am. She texted back. Just that word. Ma’am. It took me a moment. Then I realized what she wanted. I had to think about it, though, because it was setting something up. I could feel it. By calling her that, I was not only defining myself as hers but also defining her as an authority figure. Which she was. It was also setting up roles that I was getting excited for. Yes, Ma’am. I typed, hit send, and closed my messages. I wanted it to stop there. I was scared it would become something bigger than I could handle. I watched as George climbed out of the tub, and I went to my den for the night.

I have to explain something about this. I have a mutual on here named Crystal, and I want to say that Winnie's feelings about the name Crystal do not reflect my own. Winnie's just in a mood.
In my head, I congratulated myself for not bringing up George’s online girlfriend. The one whose name I knew but had never wanted to learn anything more about. Her name was Crystal, by the way. When I thought about her name being Crystal, I wondered if she was a stripper or a call girl or an OnlyFans model or what. I couldn’t imagine someone named Crystal would have a regular job. I wasn’t jealous, or even curious. I just don’t like the name Crystal. Not for the name of the woman my husband is having an affair with. Deborah is a solid name. It sounds foundational, like it’s made of hard stone. Which is ironic considering a crystal is literally a stone.
