Yeah I did a GDC talk called “Designing Text UX for Effortless Reading” which is fairly evergreen and probably not tool specific.

In terms of Godot specific stuff, I’m not sure really. What we’ve done so far has hardly been rocket science but I’ll have a think!

It would work well for us, but someone who’s mostly in GDScript might not agree!!

Yeah, it’s slightly awkward with needing to support both languages. For us we’d be happy with an ultra thin wrapper than purely exposes the Ink Story. But it’s more complicated to do more rigorous integration with GDScript + the editor with signals etc…

I can’t quite remember now, it was a few months ago now, but I think it might’ve been something to do with Ink Lists which we make heavy use of, with lots of game <-> ink back and forth. And in general, it seemed unnecessary to round trip via Variants etc.

But if you’re expecting a perfect / complete GDScript API you might be disappointed…

I’m using @paulloz.bsky.social’s integration and it’s worked pretty well. It depends what your expectations are - we went 99% C# for this project which works well with Paul’s plugin, and we access the core Ink story rather than the wrapped one most of the time.

Yes true! I thought I’d miss components but it’s weird how quickly you forget about them entirely

I’ll see what I can do!

Me too! Wtf??

It’s not always so wacky but today was indeed a fun day!

Other than my coffee machine, the new game features the following audio sources:

- a knife sharpening rod being slowly dragged against a butter dish
- my laser printer
- my air fryer being opened and closed

And it sounds marvellous!

Yep we’re using @paulloz.bsky.social’s excellent C# wrapper and the .NET version of Godot!
