Belated AABC 2025 conference photos from Bradford Cathedral. The varying tooling patterns between different faces of the stones in the 20th century extension probably distracted/upset me more than it should.

Assorted pictures from the SPABs Repairs of Old Buildings course from last week. A mix of lectures and site visits to live sites. Lectures on materials by masons, specialist brickwork contractors and timber conservation specialists of particular value. Now to decode some of my handwritten notes.

Southwell minster looking handsome in the sunshine today. Never noticed the sort of wave form dentils (?) on the parapets. I'm assuming they're the same age as a lot of the quite fruity earlier norman/Romanesque relief patterns but could easily be wrong. I could also look it up, but.

Starting off my bluesky posting with #proofofcat /animal. Not mine, mind. I met this cat in a church yard while doing a survey. Now I think it's my familiar. Or maybe vice versa. Hope this will suit.
