Been mulling this over and it sucks to internalize this, but there are people who heard “mass deportations” and knew what they meant and voted for it because they assumed it would happen to other people and not them. That’s what they voted for: violence happening to other people.
they aren’t “faceless masses.” they are free citizens in a free country that made a free choice. it is useful to analyze and understand why they made that choice. but it is grotesque to deny that they made a choice and that they cannot be held responsible for it.
