3) super weird to me that for 20 years every studio has tried to get a big fantasy franchise off the ground but nobody has attempted ANYTHING with Baum’s gigantic Oz canon, they just keep poking at the one fucking book

JUST DO A STRAIGHT WIZARD OF OZ ADAPTATION AND KEEP GOING

(I can never get over how stupid and unnecessary the musical versions of the Tin Man, Lion and Scarecrow origins are - it really feels like they were like “uh-oh, Act 2 is really really short but we used up all the good stuff already…but what about our *dumb ideas*? Now we’re cooking!”)

2) this has to be the most successful fan fic ever right? It’s a two-film adaptation of a popular broadway musical adapting a book from an author who wrote an edgy redo that basically recreates characters from scratch to fit “What if the bad guy was good actually”

A few Wicked 2 adjacent thoughts (the movie was fine, not great but not terrible though it really helps going in knowing act 2 is iffy):

1) good on Bowen Yang and Coleman Domingo for getting billed so high in the credits for their three lines of dialogue apiece

They would have been shot on sight

This seems like an actual good use of the Timeless Child retcon (where there were x-many regens before Hartnell) - cast a great voice actor for a proto-Doctor, do up his face on the cover, and then tell a story where he's inadvertently hunted like a monster

Motherfuckers heard about the Tommy Westphall hypothesis and took the exact wrong lesson out of it

I would very much be in the market for this if I wasn’t saving for that Rocketeer figure and hadn’t already pre-ordered The Tick

(could really go for an alt-Santa though)

Saw it for the first time last year, what a treat!

Santa: you’ve watched the show, flip it around, come on man

If they could combine the best parts of this (Amazon princess raised by Circe in Hell comes to Earth with magic and a big sword to fight giant monsters) with the best parts of the Azzarello run (creepy modern versions of the Greek Gods and their machinations), you could have a damn good movie series
