(Bloomberg) - The US economy is set to lose billions of dollars in revenue in 2025 from a pullback in foreign tourism and boycotts of American products, adding to a growing list of headwinds keeping recession risk elevated.

Evidence that DOGE has not only accessed sensitive data, but also removed data illegally, covering their tracks as they did so.

Like hackers would do. Not what a legitimate government organization would do.

A whistleblower's disclosure details how DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data
A whistleblower tells Congress and NPR that DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data and hid its tracks. "None of that ... information should ever leave the agency," said a former NLRB official.

1/The Trump admin has made it clear: they will have to be forced to comply with the law. They won’t do it voluntarily. It’s that simple & that complicated. Worst of all, it’s completely unsurprising we’ve come to this juncture. This was in the cards all along joycevance.substack.com/p/the-suprem...

Wow. I wish I could organize my thoughts like Puff does.

I attended the march in DC in ‘17. Afterwards, I (sadly) wondered what it really accomplished. I won’t be attending again. Now, for me, marches (and bracelets!) are insufficient. We need a new plan if we hope for meaningful change.
I wrote about the need to rethink our approach to direct action in changing times.

Lots of despairing talk these days about Dem failures in rural areas. I have an idea for how to start putting a dent in that problem.

And since BlueSky just rolled out a threading feature today, here goes, with an idea that came to me from going very, very deep and long into rural America: 1/x

“Owned by major donors” is really the crux of the problem. We won’t ever have a political party fighting for the people when they can all be bought by special interests.
To fight fascism, you need serious economic populism, not recycled neolib/neocon bullshit.

That was the lesson of 2016 which the Democratic Party refused to learn, in large part because it too is owned by major donors.

We’ll see how this plays out, but it’s not pretty.

Idk if it will even make a difference but everyone posting about Gaza right now should probably call their senators or send emails (you can use resist.bot) because the US absolutely cannot stand silently by on this.

Anybody else struck by like a wave of hopelessness this week? I feel like I've been pummeled by the reinforced idea that we have no power at all in any way whatsoever, not even the political patina of it in the face of money and power.
