Today is a Watch Both Inherent Vice and Babylon Back-To-Back While Eating Homemade Pancakes kind of day

Josh Brolin in Inherent Vice is such great casting.

Loved the first episode of The Chair Company. What if a Tim Robinson I THINK YOU SHOULD LEAVE character stumbled into an Alan J. Pakula paranoid conspiracy thriller

Lmao The Chair Company is straight up just The Crying of Lot 49 but with Tim Robinson. Good stuff.

The only one that immediately springs to mind with no doubts at all.

Finally watching Versus (2001) courtesy of @tomgreen.bsky.social and my main takeaway is that this dude is the best. Big Kefka/Joker energy.

Sometimes you bring the building down. Sometimes the building brings you down.

Mid-tier Pynchon in the end but mid-tier Pynchon is better than the best from most writers and impressive for a guy pushing 90. The jokes are particularly great. Probably the most straightforward novel he’s written since Lot 49.

PTO is going quite well

Doing the annual rewatch of The Thing. I’ve felt this bit in my bones for the last decade and it hits harder on every watch.

Posted this and then ran into three separate occasions in TOW 2 within two hours where I got to interrupt someone telling me how their misdeeds were for the greater good with “I don’t care. I’m going to shoot you now.”
In a video game if you give me the prompt to shoot the bad guy while they're monologuing about the traumatic event led them down the path of villainy, I will take the bait every time. My patience for trying to make clearly irredeemable villains more human is just so thin at this point.

Liked it a lot. Del Toro clearly trying to balance a version that's faithful to the novel's vengeful monster and Universal's more tender take on the creature. Mostly successful with a few stumbles. Best when it just lets Oscar Isaac showcase how awful Victor is than trying to make him sympathetic

Nobody knew how to have a good time in 1997 I guess.

At the end of Bloodlines 2. Separated from its sequel context, it’s a good, occasionally great time. Some real head-scratching frustrations though.

Reading Gravity’s Rainbow is probably closest you can get to emulating whatever Cooper felt sitting in the Black Lodge for 25 years.

Kicking off some PTO today. The first real break I’ve had since our BF6 reveal in July. Very proud of all the work we’ve done as a team but it’s been a long year, so looking forward to a break. Lots of media to catch up on.

I've played *so* many horror games. I've only ever played one game that was consistently, genuinely stomach-churning levels of terrifying throughout the whole game.

Why do one big game launch in a year…when you can do two? 🙂 Battlefield REDSEC is now live and free-to-play for everyone. Have fun in Fort Lyndon, folks.

I'm so confident Pew Pew Bang could have like 5 million followers if the right people were exposed to it. Do you have people in your life who love games but hate listening to a bunch of dudes talk about them? Show them Pew Pew Bang!! It's the podcast that's also a slumber party!
The new episode of Pew Pew Bang is now live! The crew finds games at the intersection of fragging and friendship and Haley has some wise words to share for those mourning a relationship gone by. Watch here or listen on your podcast app of choice: youtu.be/_i27qAXe2-4
