On International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a reminder to not close your eyes and turn away from what is happening in the US right now. Fascism is an assault on scientific integrity, knowledge, and innovation.

On #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience let me remind you that we are NOWHERE NEAR parity. A few examples.

1. Women are credited less in science than men.

Women are credited less in science than men - Nature
The difference between the number of men and women listed as authors on scientific papers and inventors on patents is at least partly attributable to unacknowledged contributions by women scientists.

My "dignity, safety, and well-being" has never been threatened by providing human rights, respect, equality, and inclusion to all humans, including trans women. Those things have been threatened for years by conservative politics, religious conservatism, misogynists, and bigos. That's today's tea.

I feel like we're living in The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade. And maybe we thought we were the visitors there to see the play, but really we're the inmates.

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights has announced that it is arbitrarily dismissing student and parent complaints arising out of public schools’ documented acts of censorship and discrimination.
Our response: Book bans are real.

For National Hot Tea Day (US) I'm enjoying a massive quantity of black tea in a new dragon scale tea mug I received as a gift. It holds so much tea. I love it. #tea #handmadepottery

I usually assume that people who love tea are lovely people, but getting blocked for requesting ALT text isn't lovely. I manage a starter pack to help people connect with tea people (yay!), but inclusivity is a priority. Please use alt text and I'll be happy to include you. #teafeed #teasky #tea

proving love can happen in BIG WAYS and in can happen in SMALL WAYS that we barely see. just take a moment and think ‘WHY am i saying this? WHY am i in this pattern to distance myself from outsider or queer art?’ a little moment of consideration goes a LONG way buckaroos. LOVE IS REAL

Packed up tea, teaware, tea board, snacks to serve tea at a friend's family's house. Forgot the teaware next to the door at home, of course, so brewed this Wild Sky pu erh in a pitcher that was in a box of donation items in my car trunk. The tea was still delicious. #tea #teafeed

I liked the weird way that the lights reflected in my cup of tea.

Crafternoon at a friend's home (I love her china!) and we enjoyed Gingerbread Festival tea from @harneyandsons.bsky.social sweetened with a bit of maple sugar candy. (Not the whole piece.) It went together really nicely.

Not sure why young people think it's a good idea to make prank calls from their cell phones, when everyone has caller ID with the name and number of the person calling and can call back to lecture.

No, I don't have a pizza order to come and pick up, and no, I would not like to suck your appendage.

There are more books in the world than you can read in a lifetime. Reserve the writing and editing of new books for humans. We don't need anything from machines to fill some unfillable gap or technical divide - there isn't one. So many failures in the idea of machine algorithm books having value.
At this point, if your tech-bro project both uses A.I. & is described by you, the tech bro, as poised to “disrupt” an industry (any industry) — we should fire your project into the sun.

Note: They say the books won’t be A.I. written — just A.I. proofread, designed, & every other thing. Still trash.
Why? Who is this meant to be good for? Nobody wants your shit AI books, never mind 8,000 in a year. Just a terrible idea and a horrible road the publishing industry is heading down.
