When I was in elementary school there was a staff member at the school who walked with a cane because of polio. She made sure to tell all of us the reason and that we were fortunate there was a vaccine now. It made a big impact on me.

Brilliant. Measles mumps rubella. How about showing someone in an iron lung due to polio. A girl downstairs from me in college lived in an iron lung. I had MMR and they were horrible. Rashes and swollen glands, fever, hallucinations. Vaccines are a lifesaving blessing.

Just imagining how much better it would be if ALL news stories about vaccine-preventable illnesses were illustrated with pictures of people with the disease, not pictures of needle injections. If you must show something that people will find scary & unpleasant, make it the disease, not the cure.

Rather than shame Rep Crockett, maybe see this for what it is. MTG has work to do and she should do it if she’s sincere. Putting this on Rep Crockett and lecturing her about forgiveness is gross. The burden is on MTG and you’re not the arbiter of when that burden is met.
