You probably don't know what SEQRA is - but you should know that it's slowing down the housing that we need. Deputy Mayor Leila Bozorg is here to explain why reforming it is key to cutting red tape and building more housing.

Watching the reaction to some very scattered and very mild criticism from Streetblog folks feels like watching the earliest stages of negative polarization happening live.

The intense defensiveness about something easily ignorable is odd from a journalistic outlet to say the least.

Yeah it's really unbelievable how many people want to incarcerate (make it harder to drive drunk) people whose most basic civil liberties (killing people with cars) are at risk
I think it was a huge mistake to make our society so car-dependent. But man. The Discourse today is a good reminder that when it comes to roadways policy, otherwise progressive anti-car people quickly become some of the most pro-carceral, anti-civil liberties people on the planet.

“An ICE agent lured Wilmer out of his home under false pretenses, posing as a construction worker who claimed to have hit Wilmer’s car and needed him to step outside to verify. Another agent, accompanied by a dog, was hiding nearby and released the dog on Wilmer shortly after he stepped outside.”
My constituent, Wilmer, was mauled by an ICE attack dog despite the fact that, as he has consistently explained, he was not resisting arrest or trying to flee—his wife and young children, all U.S. citizens, were forced to watch helplessly as Wilmer was violently attacked and dragged away.

NYC politicians throw around the term "e-bike," and dealing with the so called "e-bike problem" is brought up constantly, but it's important to know what the rules are now because a lot of what you see that seem like e-bikes are already not street-legal.

I think it's shameful that during a second Trump administration, and after NYC voters rejected a return to moderate, conciliatory governance, that a Democrat would tout the entirety of the Council's Republican caucus as her supporters.
Menin says she'll work with Mamdani "on a shared agenda that makes New York more affordable."

GOP members backing Menin, tho, are likely to look to her to be a check on Mamdani. Vickie Paladino said she's with Menin because she "understands all perspectives." www.nydailynews.com/2025/11/26/j...

The context of all of this is that the Trump Administration has undone a Biden Era rule requiring U.S. airlines to reimburse passengers for lengthy delays, and they want you to talk about airplane dress codes, slippers and snacks instead.

Sean Duffy, the U.S. transportation secretary, has been urging people for the past week to dress and comport themselves better as a way of restoring “civility” to air travel. On Tuesday, he added another item to his list of concerns: the quality of the snacks handed out on commercial flights.

I can't speak for what was said at the protests, but seeing people react to an anodyne statement like "sacred spaces should not be used to promote activities in violation of international law" as if it were a vicious slur is clarifying.
Zohran Mamdani chastised a Manhattan synagogue that hosted an event promoting migration to Israel and settlements in occupied territories. His stance further tested his strained relationship with pro-Israel Jews in New York.

Insane that pushing back on an election outcome as a mandate is only a thing with Mamdani. Where have these people been when the media has treated the 2020 election as a mandate for Trump to do whatever he wants?

Elections aren't mandates and we should push back on this idea universally.
Mayor Adams, on the Reset Talk Show, argues Zohran Mamdani didn't get "a mandate" from his election.

"There was no mandate, 49% stated that they did not want Zohran as their mayor," he says.

(Mamdani got over 250,000 more votes than Adams did in the 2021 election)
