Reckon i found the bad part in my oven. Think it’ll buff out?
(Since it’s a 1965ish part the shell is bakelite, and man, bakelite Magic Smoke smells so much worse than modern Magic Smoke)

Picked up the 7.6M earthquake off Japan this morning from my backyard seismic station. Since it happened so early in the morning the signal is perfect crisp and clear. The earthquake source was 7237km away.

Something in the console of my oven caught fire and every repair place I’ve called says it’s impossible to or not worth fixing… problem is it’s a weird size built-in wall oven and replacing it probably means a kitchen renovation. Guess I’m figuring this one out on my own.

I think i’m gonna make a quince and custard pie for dessert tomorrow so first things first - poaching a buttload of quince in chardonnay with vanilla, sugar, and candied Buddha’s Hand.

We have a persimmon tree that i’ve never eaten a fruit from because i was confidently incorrect that persimmons had to ripen on the tree, and its so wet here that as they start to ripen they immediately rot. Then today i finally looked it up and guess what. WROOOOOOOOOOOOONG.
Sigh.

Protip, you don’t need to throw them away, you can coil them and hang them from bicycle hooks you put in your garage rafters next to rusty chainsaws instead. Then when you need to find one you can look up instead of dogging through a box!

After a couple days of hippies not stealing those amanita muscarias under cover of night, i decided, hey, i’m hippie!
But i grabbed some to make spore prints, because that’s more fun than gettin blitzed. I think i left them too long, but its still pretty.
