For the first time, the USS Enterprise appeared on the screen. It was the beginning of a long, long journey: Star Trek. 🖖

We drive to Highland County every year for their Maple Festival, and their community radio station is a hugely important piece of their community’s fabric.

Congress voted to claw back federal funding to public media. Some of those hit hardest include community radio stations in areas that voted for the president.

We’re working on an updated guidebook for school and district leaders who support immigrant students and families! What are some resources you love or that you wish existed? A lot has changed since January, and we hope to have a refreshed guide up in early August. www.welcometoclass.org

How extreme is the June 7 Memorandum on federalizing the National Guard?

One of several issues: It has NO geographic limit. None. No mention of California or any other state. It's open-ended.

Now this from President Trump: "Well, we're going to have troops everywhere."⬇️
Trump: Well, we're going to have troops everywhere.

Reporter: What’s the bar for sending in the Marines

Trump: The bar is what I think it is.

This. Absolutely this.

And I still remember his name: Elian Gonzalez. That's how much of a scandal it was.
A million years ago, this was a national scandal. Today, it is just an every day occurrence that we all tacitly accept.

Great crowd for the unveiling of the desegregation historical marker in downtown Harrisonburg. Students led this outstanding effort to document how student activism led to real change in Virginia. A companion exhibit is being launched at Rocktown History; come check it out!

Why do we believe the central Shenandoah Valley can support a semi-pro soccer team?

Because *3* of the young men representing us on the conference Team of the Week <<are still in high school>>.

The talent is here; we provide the stage.
Congratulations to Jason, Leyden, Tyler, Alex, and Coach Sibanda for being named to the DMV South-B conference Team of the Week for match week 4!

I wish they had an adult science fair because I’m running an experiment on whether “Do you smell updog?” or “They say you sound like an owl” are more reliably able to fool people into delivering the punchline, and the results so far are interesting.

THIS THIS THIS
A reminder that every small bit of good you do - whether it be putting art into the world, helping a friend or stranger, donating to a good cause, or just listening to someone who needs to vent - offsets all the evil in the world just a little bit. And sometimes that's just what the world needs.

WWE NXT is so consistently entertaining. The entire stable of wrestlers is stylish, charming, and athletic. My particular favorites are Ethan Page, Oba Femi, Giulia, Trick Williams, and the Fraxiom tag team. Who else out here is a fan?
