Reposting ahead of the ban coming into force next week.

tldr; I think a lot of kids will go to Telegram where they'll be at much higher risk of being exposed to some really truly nasty content than they ever were on Instagram and SnapChat. #auspol
Let's say, extremely hypothetically, this social media age ban works. Under-16s are effectively blocked from mainstream social media platforms. What happens?

They'll look for non-mainstream platforms. Spoiler: it could get quite bad.

Thread.
Okay, so now it’s law but we still don’t know how we’re going to do it or where we’re going to do it or who will be responsible for doing it or who will (I hope) be stopping it from becoming yet another mass privacy invasion by the social media platforms. Great. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Australian service personnel are embedded with a rogue military force committing war crimes. It is testimony to the Australian Government’s lack of integrity that they are not being recalled. Michael Pascoe reports.

Every woman knows that moment: when the men in the room don’t see you as an equal, not even fully human. And still we smile, nod, swallow it. Because calling it out makes us “too sensitive.” But these small humiliations add up. It’s not harmless. It’s the culture. And we’re done.

Yes. Rape is rape. While most women and every thinking man, applaud this result, I question why it has dragged out so long at great emotional, physical and financial cost to the victim/survivor.
Answer: because she’s a woman.

There can be no phrase more damaging and dangerous to the women of Australia than the phrase now regularly used (because of Bruce Lehrmann’s attempts to defend himself from rape claims) than the disgraceful words “non-violent rape”.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING.

Greek astronomy is ancient; this Wiradjuri knowledge is far older
All 88 internationally recognised constellations have European origins. But First Nations astronomy tells older, beautiful stories that contain invaluable lessons and knowledge.

Sums thing up really.

To top things off, perhaps they could forward the report to the NACC? 😂

West Papua is Indonesia’s “Lebensraum” —
A colonised frontier pillaged for gold, forests, and oil while Indigenous Papuans are displaced, silenced, and militarised.
This isn’t “unity” — it’s expansion, domination, and erasure masked as nationalism.
