And a published paper that's been through peer review!!
November 29, 2025 at 9:56 PM
200% agree!!
November 29, 2025 at 2:39 PM
This is 100% true, but in this case, a wheelchair user wouldn't be able to get past the robot on this narrow sidewalk––who would end up in traffic to get by? Certainly better infrastructure would give enough room for both...

Cheering you on from here! Woo hoo!!! You've got this!

Having a post-acceptance figure integrity check definitely helps catch issues as small as typos, or as large as something like this, but the person doing this would need to be paid (gasp!). So a lot more gets foisted on to academic editors and reviewers.

Yeah I used to do post-acceptance science editing for a journal (in fact, that's how @planteditors.bsky.social got started) and it's remarkable how much figure stuff slips through review. I think you're right about having the figures at the very end contributing.

Gorgeous! Next year, I'm adding a gin drink, that's brilliant––between that and the 8 different plant species in Penzey's Pie Spice, I'll be in #Plantsgiving heaven!
November 28, 2025 at 4:20 PM
Ah wait, 18––forgot I put some lemon juice in the grape pie, so two citrus, Citrus × latifolia (I cannot be arsed to juice key limes) and Citrus limon.
November 28, 2025 at 4:14 PM
So 17 species, 8 of which were pie spices, haha!
November 28, 2025 at 4:12 PM
Wow, the species in Penzey's pie spice really add up: cinnamon (Chinese so probably Cinnamomum cassia, Korinje, so C. burmannii, and Vietnamese, probably C. loureiroi?), vanilla, mace/nutmeg (both Myristica fragrans), ginger, anise seed, and clove.
November 28, 2025 at 4:10 PM
Otherwise, the expected grasses (wheat and sugarcane), a nice Brassica (cauliflower), apples, olives (as oil), black pepper, and citrus (limes in Key lime pie).
