I use words and take pictures. I made two kids. I like bonfires.
Yeah, some of the verbiage in this seemed like bait. It felt off, like the plant that Sean Penn’s white supremacist colonel sends into a pro-immigrant protest to provoke riot police in the new PT Anderson movie (sorry if that reference seems out of left field, but that’s what popped up for me!)

You don't have to tell me—this 'thinkpiece' is ridiculous!

I see I am not the only one who thinks this essay is dogshit

Maybe I felt that way too? I dunno. I didn’t feel much at all—I could recognize it was a “well made” film, but it didn’t emotionally resonate. I just kept wanting it to be over, lol.

I really, REALLY went in wanting to love it (that did not happen). I’m fine with slower-paced films, too. This one didn’t do it for me. Meanwhile, the other day I watched the PT Anderson movie and was easily entertained for 2hr 40min—didn’t think it was anything revolutionary, but I was entertained!

Like, I could tell this movie was really good (well acted, smart story), but it was slooww and I was bored af and fell asleep at times. Great sisters scene, though, and Stellan is always great, as were the Norwegian actors playing his daughters www.rottentomatoes.com/m/sentimenta...

The movie was never going to rival the book in terms of the richness of the backstory, but damn if it didn’t eerily re-create the whole vibe I had in my head when I read the novel

Been conflicted on seeing this, because Maggie O’Farrell’s novel is one of my favorites and I don’t want it to be forever soiled by a meh adaptation, but I love Buckley/Mescal and so have decided to go in treating this like an entirely separate animal www.rottentomatoes.com/m/hamnet
