love coming across a manga that really reminds me why I love the art form so much, and art in general

A Bride’s Story by Kaoru Mori

Even in the early stages where Yoshida’s role was less clear I don’t think it was ever planned to be anything other than public safety. He’s confirmed to be a PS agent in 114.

but like… he already knew the type of organization PS was, what devils they’re willing to employ and what methods they use to establish their control, Denji’s relative importance in the world, how public safety sees Denji. How he needs to be careful in this world.

I’m pretty sure he’s specifically talking about his most recent hiring but idk it stands out to me that he was hired to guard Denji before this and it definitely wasn’t because he was starting school. Feels weird that this is just… never addressed or explained

there are people saying the sex scenes in song of Achilles are unnecessary

I would say it’s more subtle in the manga but definitely there. I see it in the same way that I see Fujimoto drawing Asa’s body differently between when she occupies it and Yoru does- Yoru getting more emphasis on her hips, butt, and chest to convey the sexual, “adult” aspect of her character.

Thank you for your thoughts!! I apologize for my own long, long chatter. It’s something I have a lot of thoughts about and I know this isn’t a common way of looking at it. I’m coming from a perspective of not seeing Asaden’s relationship as heading towards healing or reconciliation.

It was clearer in the movie that the teenage hybrids become physically more mature when transforming- Denji gains a noticeable amount of muscle & Reze fills out in her chest and hips- and it just makes me think of how Miri really doesn’t become much more than he already is when transformed

“despite how much they struggle upwards, the only way forward is down.”

hahaha. oh.
November 18, 2025 at 12:02 AM
something I’ve noticed is that recently each time Denji has reached some kind of epiphany about finding a form of happiness or motivation to keep going (as ultimately flawed and harmful as they may be), it is accompanied by Asa being brought to the ground, huddled and curled into herself

the artstyle development has been incredible to watch and take shape because of how well it has changed to fit what the story is saying about men, power dynamics and misogyny.

Tomoaki himself is an excellent example- he’s practically aged ten years in appearance and that’s very intentional.

It /literally/ ends like this

every 10 to 15 minutes one of four things was happening

1. A wonderfully melodramatic soliloquy while the speaker is actively dying
2. Oscar Isaac getting cheeked up and whored out
3. Chainsaw man tier absurdist violence
4.

So like. she already couldn’t die before the concept of death was erased, and now she really cannot die. So these legs are still alive and the being they belong to still exists, even without a name.

What now?

However, you could read this as Kishibe needing to pay to use his contracts each time. But! it sounds like a “pay when activated” situation like Fox. So all the Fumikos need to do to avoid any negative consequences is never use any of his contracted devils.

100%. This is where this was always going to lead- viewing relationships not as a bond with another person but instead as a source of pleasure that can simply be compounded through having more of them was inevitably going to become viewing the world through an objectified lens.
November 14, 2025 at 5:21 PM
When Yoru slaughters innocents in front of him, he can only bring up weak arguments of vague moralism and fails to actually confront her in any meaningful way. He still will hold her, save her, see her as one with Asa.
November 14, 2025 at 3:46 PM
if your devil stands in our way, I’ll murderize her

the devil that I embraced, slept next to, played with, envisioned a life with. the devil that I chose over your pleas when she was the one making the world I wanted.

Don’t get me wrong there are definitely parts of part 2 that have emotionally affected me, but nothing has remotely come close to these moments and frankly I don’t think it’s possible to create a scenario out of what we have that will atp
November 13, 2025 at 2:19 AM
what kind of world are you going to make for yourself, denji, when you see it, all of its complications, the people of it, the social dynamics within it, and yourself in relation to it in these ways?
November 12, 2025 at 4:12 AM
honestly I’m never not thinking about Hajime using demonic power to intimidate rice into behaving
November 11, 2025 at 8:49 PM
The other thing I love about all of it is how genuinely happy Hajime looks to be with him ;;
November 11, 2025 at 7:55 PM
Your argument is essentially “the erasure of death had absolutely no affect on Yoru’s perception of the world, her role and her ties within/to it” which just doesn’t seem sound, especially when last chapter we see active rewriting of her perspective 😭
