it is darkly funny to me that American troops are as unprepared to handle the harsh climate of a Minnesota winter as they were in Vietnam or Iraq
ICE officers slipping on ice while trying to terrorize communities is the most accurate metaphor imaginable. No balance. No footing. No moral ground. Just cruelty, incompetence, and gravity doing its thing.

Republicans somehow managed to sprint from “we’re trying to protect women in sports” straight to defending a woman being shot in the head three times at point blank range for trying to drive away from a masked thug.

For a moment, some Venezuelans allowed themselves to celebrate Nicolás Maduro’s fall. But as the government moves to crush dissent, joy has given way to fear, dread & uncertainty.

“It feels like it did after the presidential elections in 2024. We won, but we also lost.”

Fear grips Caracas as a new wave of repression is unleashed in Venezuela
Venezuela’s government launched a far-reaching crackdown after Maduro’s ouster, detaining journalists and civilians and sending armed gangs to the streets.

I’m sorry. I can’t let this Miller bullshit pass.

After WWII “the West,” sometimes relatively quickly, sometimes not until the ‘70s, realized that the writing was on the wall: that they could spend vast sums in blood and treasure trying to defeat anti-colonial movements, and still lose.
Eyes wide open, folks. They're revealing the supervillain plot.

This is worse than a regime change.

The insane regime gets to stay in power.

They just have to pay Trump with oil now
Reporter: Are you going to demand that Delcy Rodriguez allow opposition figures to return or free any political prisoners?

Trump: We haven't gotten to that. Right now, we want to do is fix up the oil

I’m kinda baffled at the celebratory mood amongst the Venezuelan diaspora.

Sure — Maduro is gone, but his government is still in charge. The legitimately-elected opposition is still out of power. And any resources will most certainly now benefit American companies.

Situation seems not great.

WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

Fuck you.
Don’t clutch your pearls when I come after white progressives for this absolutely psychotic narcsissitic bullshit.

Trump has killed any idea of democracy in Venezuela, and favored Chavismo to stay in power. I really don't know how anybody can celebrate this.
Weeks before U.S. forces seized President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela, Trump officials had settled on an acceptable candidate to replace Maduro, at least for the time being: Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, known for stabilizing Venezuela’s economy.
How Trump Fixed On a Maduro Loyalist as Venezuela’s New Leader
Nicolás Maduro balked at a gilded exile. U.S. officials then saw a more pliant option in his vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, known for stabilizing Venezuela’s economy.
