Just FYI, I don't follow many people. I add them to lists I've created. That gives me a chance to dip in & out & see posts from people I might miss if I follow a gazillion people because I only check social media maybe 30 minutes a day, if that.

::Snort:: I'm reading a book in which an author claims that the only copy of her book resides on a server somewhere. The Only Copy.

Dude. I'm an author. I have a bazillion copies of every manuscript on every backup object you can imagine.

1) I wonder ... I've read fantasy/scifi most of my (long) life. I wonder if that's why I'm more accepting of gay, trans, gender fluid, racial equality, etc. I mean, I've read about different creatures with non-binary sexes or appendages or whatever and it made sense to me.

I don't make resolutions for the new year, but I choose a Word of the Year. Next year will be "Commit" as in: I will finally publish the series I've been angsting over for lo these many years. I love it and the characters and it's time to release it into the wild. So 'Commit' it is.

So glad I wasn't traveling this past weekend (as I have so many times before). I'm on target to finish my manuscript as long as I stay with it, so wish me luck!

A few years old but the feeling still remains. Happy day! Me (the youngest) and my sissies.

There's some nasty weather out there (and ICE; I mean, let's face it, they might grab him). Here's hoping all goes well for the big guy today/tonight. Run, run Rudolf!

I'm doing a lot of Adulting, which is annoying but necessary. End of the year stuff. Of course, #amwriting, too. The current WIP is at chapter 6, so I'm ~mid-way. I have a good idea how it'll end, so that's useful. My goal is The End by Dec. 31. Should make it (she said hopefully).

The thing I really love about BSky is that I am discovering all kinds of new authors; someone will post a cover or will mention a book they read or an artist I like will post a cover or ... I swear, every day I come on here I find something new to add to my "things I need to read someday" list. 1/2

@chuckwendig.bsky.social In a truly odd coincidence, I finished listening to the audio of Wayard today, December 4, 2025.

We're expecting snowmageddon here tomorrow. I'll venture out later today when sane people will be inside watching football. I just need a few items so I hope to be in & out of the store in record time (she said hopefully). Then I'll sock in for some Major Writing Time tomorrow as the snow hits.

As I've mentioned before, I don't follow people. I've created lists and I add folks to those lists which lets me filter based on topic (i.e., 'Authors' or 'Crafts').

1) For anyone who's curious: the first time CoPilot popped up when I was using MS-Word, I went to Settings and uninstalled it. That was a month or two ago (or longer). So far, no problems. Just FYI.

Every year this happens somewhere not far from me and every year it's a blast. I have volunteered in a couple of the towns and have handed out water, manned a booth, or just came out to cheer folks on. Rain or shine, hot or cold -- RAGBRAI will happen.

One of the perils of being a writer is you get asked to do writerly things, like write the speech for the funeral of a dear friend. Which I did and presented today.

Since June, six people I was close to have died. I really hope we're done with this for a few months, at least.

Unlike so many folks, I love this time of year. Dark at 5:00PM? Okay, that works for me. Dark at 6AM? That works, too. Cold, windy, rainy, snowy? I'll add another layer of clothing. I get more done in Nov-March than any other time of the year. There's something to be said for hibernation.

I think "A Night in the Lonesome October" by Zelazny & read by Zelazny is perhaps the perfect audiobook. I either read or listen to it every October and I am still discovering characters. I mean, Virginia Woolf? Yep, she's there.

I am reading some YA books (thanks to @rickriordan.bsky.social). When I was a kid, I kind of skipped over YA and went straight to adult mysteries and other fiction. My mother evaluated books for the library so I read what she brought home by the time I was in 5th grade or so.

I often read social media posts (especially here) and I feel like the Clever Kids are making comments and I'm out of the loop. Okay, I'm old (70s), so I get it, but I don't encounter it as much anywhere else. I think ...

I enjoy seeing mentions of articles that folks post, but inevitably when I follow the link I'm asked to subscribe. I understand that these sites need $$ to stay in business, but I'm limited in how much I can spend on online sites.

If you post links, please, if possible, make it a gift link.

I spent a few days brainstorming books with friends; as always, I learned a lot about the characters in my WIP and had a great time. It's such an interesting experience to get away, unhook from social media, and just be real for a time.

@scalzi.com Welcome to Flyover Land! I wish I could attend your event tomorrow but I'm leading a workshop on writing and won't get back in time. Enjoy IC; hope you're staying at the Graduate which is one of the more interesting hotels in the area.
