Good luck! We had septic at our last house and it was under the brick patio in back. A real PITA to have it pumped but there was access, albeit tricky to get at. You need a Good Septic Guy on your side.

Septic woes can be such a problem. Never heard of a line freezing but yeah, I guess it makes sense. I have the feeling most appliances last about 10 years anymore, if that -- we had to replace a water heater after 2 years (lousy water system here in town). The Joys of Home Ownership.

Not only do they look like superheroes, they look like ready-to-fight-and-take-to-the-streets heroes!

I'm sure this was from an estate sale or something like that. I can see the kids saying, "Euw, CDs? Who listens to those anymore? Who's this? Manfred Mann's Earth Band? Poco? Molly Hatchet?"

Perhaps not surprisingly, I recognize 99.9% of CDs here, even without their cases.

Adding alt text here: an old CD holder chock full of 70s music.

When I lead writing workshops, I always say "Sometimes you're at the front of the bus, sometimes at the back. Just stay on the bus. Keep writing." This is similar -- keep your foot on the gas and don't give in. We shall overcome.

yep, it's been that way for at least 20-25 years. I remember the first year I lived in MN and the weatherman mentioned this, I thought they were kidding. Nope. They aren't.

Dan Brown's most recent book, "The Secret of Secrets" gets into this about gatekeepers and repeatable experiments and how the mind forms its own reality outside of the physical reality. It was typical Brown (lots of superfluous stuff) but the sceince in it was interesting.

That's why I started writing novels about h/h in their 50s and older. I got tired of reading about Nubile Young Things and Hunky Guys.

I know because once I had a hard disk crash & I had to poke through the copies of the copies to figure out which was current.

Now I have an automatic backup disk running and I back up to the Cloud once a day.

Trust me: authors don't have One Copy Of Their Book.

Nah, you'll be fine. Their problems showed up right after their cataract surgery -- sounds like you're a few months out from it, so you'll be okay.

2) I've always thought our bipedal species is really weird, not to mention our internals (humans are best example of portable plumbing ever invented). When I consider the infinite possibilities for housing 'mind', who cares about how a person self-identifies?

My eye guy says I'll probably never need cataract surgery, which is a HUGE relief for me; two friends (a married couple) had cataract surgery & both have had MAJOR problems since then. Different surgeons, different years of surgery, but HUGE issues still unresolved. Best of luck to you!

Interesting. I was reviewing my Google calendar and 20 years ago I had lasik eye surgery in the Cities. My eye guy here says it was the best example of lasik surgery he's ever seen. 0 problems all these years ::knock on wood lest the demons hear me::

I crochet small blankets for the pets at the Humane Society and I design and make embroidered samplers that are given to domestic violence victims when they start a new home. I listen to audiobooks while sewing, so it's a win-win for me.
