It's church lunch day. To some that will invoke memories of everything-flavour soup or the most random of pot luck/bring-and-share offerings.

Tomorrow's dinner is on. New chimney/smokestack and upgraded fire-basket are doing a great job - even if it did mean grinding metal outside on the hottest day of the year.
A UDS - Ugly Drum Smoker, composed of an upright black-painted 40 gallon steel drum with two copper pipes, about half the length of the drum, attached vertically to its side and entering the drum at the bottom. The pipes are terminated with ball valves with bright red handles. From the back of the drum protrudes a tall chimney, about half the height again of the drum. A small amount of thin white smoke is exiting the chimney. The drum has a plain steel lid with two handles. Attached to the handle of one ball valve is a bright orange thermometer transmitter with two wires entering the drum under the lid. In the background a 6' dark wooden fence runs from the left of the shot and meets a dark wooden shed to the right. The drum sits on a wooden plinth, itself straddling a boundary between a dead lawn and block paving. Behind this a border with bark chippings and two small shrubs.

Giant radioactive rodent it is ☢️🐀

Finally got round to tracing the cables (honestly forgot where we ran these 10 years ago).

Will be joining and re-terminating tonight, and taking the opportunity to upgrade the WiFi.
The frayed ends of two Cat6 cables, with their twisted pairs unravelling at random lengths. The purple outer sheath and translucent star filler are visibly chewed.

Second side quest completed.

Every single felt tip pen in the cupboard, that's 200, now has the correct cap.

A friend, who's aware of my ADHD, walked by and was surprised I had the attention span for this. Time to explain to them about hyper focus.
Approximately 100 different felt tip pens are led, roughly side by side, on a bright blue table. They're aligned with their cap facing north. Only their caps, and their very ends are coloured, their body is white.

Sure, there's a purple cable trailing through the middle of the worship space this morning, but purple is the correct liturgical colour for lent!

It's 8:45 on Sunday morning and I'm at church... terminating Cat6 cables.

With a bit of crawling around and a lot of prayer, there's every chance yet that this morning's service will be live streamed.

This may just become required watching for any future junior devs I hire.
The "go", "grow leaf", "repeat" and "stop" Wonderblocks (anthropomorphic blocks representing actions) are holding hands in a line from left to right. "repeat" is forming a loop with "grow leaf", with a number 2 above his head representing how many more repeats there are.

Wonderblocks is fantastic.

Watching it with 4yo, who's sick home from school. It's designed to teach young children to code.

The emphasis on stopping and breaking down complex problems is great.

Went to London for a family trip, due to a mix up we had to book a hotel room last-minute. This is what my two train-obsessed boys saw when they walked into our hotel room.
Two small boys, a taller one in a bright orange coat and a smaller one in a blue puffer jacket, are stood with their faces pressed against the glass of a floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall window. We're on the 12th floor. Immediately outside the window are the many platforms of a busy Waterloo train station filled with trains. Beyond the station lies the London skyline stretching from the OXO tower to the left to the skyscrapers of Canary Wharf to the right.

Made a decoration for the church Christmas tree - turned out pretty good.
A Christmas tree decoration that consists of a white arch with a nativity scene at the back and a hollow inside. Inside the bottom is a small hole where a fairy light from the tree pokes through, illuminating the arc putting the nativity scene in silhouette.
