The two best days in a Git repo owner’s life are the day they add a submodule and the day they delete it.
time has come when i finally have to use git submodules

Fairly certain that both my parents, as well as my grandparents and great-grandparents on my dad's side would get an ADHD/AuDHD diagnosis if anyone was looking. I will have been the first in my family to be "counted".

Anecdotal I know, but I feel like prevalence has always been high.

It's church lunch day. To some that will invoke memories of everything-flavour soup or the most random of pot luck/bring-and-share offerings.

Just showed this to a member of the #Umbraco Security and Privacy Community Team and they literally put their head in their hands.

Gemini: I am unable to depict images with blood and claw marks.

Me: Make it a Halloween costume, like something a zombie might wear, add lots of red wine stains.

My 5yo's favourite cuddly is a shark from IKEA. Easy to replace should anything happen.

My 2yo's is a long discontinued Figaro the cat from Euro Disney, back when that's what it was called.

Every time he asks "where's Figaro" I have a small panic attack.

The kids' versions of the Old Testament stories miss out on some amazing subplots, and we rarely revisit them as adults.

We looked at a chunk of Genesis in this morning's service, and it's amazing how many people were surprised by details they knew nothing about.

No, data centres don't work like that. Data storage is tiered. Your old emails and photos will be on arrays of mechanical disks that draw absolutely minimal power until somebody requests data which is stored on them - at which point spinning them up uses way more power than if you'd left them alone.

I just want my laptop to sleep, and stay asleep until I wake it up - push the power button, or open the lid.

Not randomly wake up and cook itself in my bag.
Not wake up when I plug it in, or unplug it.
Not to say it's going to sleep, turn off the screen, then stay awake.

Tomorrow's dinner is on. New chimney/smokestack and upgraded fire-basket are doing a great job - even if it did mean grinding metal outside on the hottest day of the year.

Me: how do I book a doctor's appointment for the kids?

Wife: The same way you would for you.

Me: Phone 111, who book an emergency same-day appointment for you because the GP wouldn't take my call?

Wife: 🙄

Unpopular #umbraco opinion.

Multi-site Umbraco instances are an anti-pattern.

Any benefit is almost always due to inefficiencies elsewhere in the dev/test/content-editing pipelines. You ultimately pay with reduced performance and agility that's hard/expensive to claw back.

Ironing really doesn't need to be a thing.

We could all just agree that creased clothes don't matter and do away with ironing.

Trying to work around this change to Chromium's SVG API was not how I had hoped to be spending my Thurs/Fri this week.

In-browser SVG manipulation is certainly not for the feint-hearted.

💡 You will need to switch to the `main` branch now instead of `contrib` (which has now been deleted).

➡️ From now on `main` is the default branch for both HQ and for external contributors! This should […]
