Last year Auntie Jane, who does her homework, gave the youngest (3rd grade) a kids bio on Jane Goodall. She had just done a report on her in school. She shrieked with delight and screamed, “I LOVE HER!”

Yup. They all get books. Especially the ones with rich grandparents who shower then with every material item that they can think of and the kids don’t need. (Cellphones for 8-year-olds after Mom and Dad say no way.) Nope, books.

For a few years, my friend Leslie and I did what we called "Lo-Fi Black Fri" - we'd pick a small town to go to on Black Friday. That year, it was Monroe/New Glarus.
Even though I moved, Leslie and I realized there's no reason to end this tradition; we'll meet up in Eastern Iowa for Lo-Fi Black Fri.

It’s from an old cookbook I picked up when I was covering the Missouri Valley Conference tournament and the school was called SW Missouri. Back in their Final Four days. The book was old when I got it. Not sure how Kay got in there but famous alums are, too
