It seemed more designed to make Victor a more unlikeable character, and honestly the novel does a good enough job of that with how he treats the monster, so yeah maybe would have been a lot tighter a movie without it. Just have the monster kill the brother and frame it as more of a loss or someone.

In that case I would have definitely done more of an Attack on Titan reference!😂

Indeed! A chapter of the book I'm writing seems to revolve around it. I was also recently learning about the history of it in France and how artists and writers would use it for inspiration in their work, all very interesting!
