Today's spooky season watch has been taken up by the horror of me having to rewatch this remake to go along with the theme of the last couple of days. It's a neon-soaked nightmare that completely tramples on the spirit of the original & seems to have no idea what it's doing The horror, the horror!🤖🔪
Good day everyone! It's a late start today with coffee and crumpets with golden syrup to go with it.
I'm looking to record another podcast today and hopefully get some editing in.
I hope you're feeling good and have already hit the ground running!
Following up Stepford Wives with Revenge of the Stepford Wives from 1980, although the copy I found is apparently called Terror in New York, which makes no sense! Hey look kids, it's Don Johnson!🤷 Gone is all the nuances of the original and now it's all housewives clutching knives at every turn!🔪
The more gussied up version of my current prose!👀

The Stepford Wives (1975) Review:

Creates a sense of inescapable dread taking over as the net draws up further & further. The drowning inevitably of a trap closing, mirroring much of what a stranded suburban housewife of the time must've felt. Fantastic mood pieces dystopian sci-fi horror

8.5/10⭐🎥
Just spotted a visitor who found some of the nuts I've scattered about my garden, they had a grand old time foraging!🐿️🥜

I'm finally back to editing! It's always fun to come back to something and have forgotten when you've written something super weird in your awkward-flirty scene between your nerdy autistic protagonists:
Rewatching this classic for the first time in forever for spooky season watch 14, also it's research for the next podcast episode!
Shed of the Dead (2019) Review:

Ripoff of Shaun of the Dead that's an absolute mess. Instead of character growth & great gags it's full of unlikeable people who never change & almost every joke falls flat. Feels soulless & calculated. Beyond some notable names, pales in comparison.

4/10⭐🎥

Juicy bit of duck for dinner.
The new spooky season podcast on love at first bite is out, with me as the special guest, come join the discussion now!🧛
Good day everyone!

I spent the morning doing chores and sorting out my room and I'm finally finished, so check out my bar area, I slightly sparse but room to grow!

I hope you're having a terrific Tuesday and feel fulfilled as a person and human being in general!
Giving Shed of the Dead from 2019 a go for Day 13 of my spooky season watches. Love a schlocky British horror comedy and this one has definite Shaun of the Dead vibes, while being extra nerdy and having a tonne of horror cameos thrown in. Hopefully it's as promising as it looks!
Intruder (1989) Review:

Very well set out slasher, excels in innovative kills.
The only issue is theres almost no character work beyond a bit of general banter. Although at the time caring about this wasn't often a priority, so it does everything it needs to do to be a really fun slasher.

My journey across the sea was a safe one!
A spot of Cream Tea before heading to the boat
It's my last day on the island with the notable Nina so here is an interesting fact about her: she can't sit properly! She has a strange habit of squatting instead of sitting when her back is straight, creating this slightly comical effect.
Also toe beans and bork to you!🐶
Decided to watch Intruder for spooky season watch Day 13 after it appeared on @deadmeatjames.bsky.social, God damn shopping trolley punks hanging about like waste men!
House of Darkness (2022) Review:

Slight apeing of Barbarian with the inclusion of Justin Long & similar poster, but lacks a bit of the bite & subtle satire.
Despite this it's a captivating watch, the interplay between characters works & if you like tight tense movies then this is for you.

7.5/10⭐🎥
Mince pies and a mountain of ice cream for dessert! 😋
It's nice to have a home cooked Sunday roast again!☺️🍗
These are my new translation Bluetooth glasses, they feed sound & language directly into my brain!😄 What do you think? (I'm aware my beard is completely uneven right now, I am attempting to grow it out again!)
The sun is calling me on this Sunday!🌞
